"hey dani?" liam asked. "do you still think you could come over later?"
"what for?" i responded. i very well knew what for.
"math."
"math my ass. only math you'll be doing is subtracting her clothes." said the boy next to liam; his best friend, austin. he thought i couldn't hear. my sense of hearing was very keen. the keenest the doctor had ever seen.
"of course," i smiled, ignoring austin, "what time?"
"whenever works for you. i'll be free whenever."
"great! can you just take me home? i need a ride anyway."
"oh, uh, yeah. my car's a little messy, and small.."
"i'm fine with that." i smiled again and walked closer, looking up into his eyes.
he became flustered, very obviously. i smiled some more, i knew exactly what i was doing to him, and so did he. "my car is this way," he said in his most confident voice, "i can just take you home later." he began to reach for my hand but decided last second not to. i grabbed his hand anyway and he pulled me through the crowd, out the doors, and through the parking lot towards his car.
"sounds like a plan. where do you live?"
"do you know where dark oaks is? the development?"
"yes, do you really live there?"
"yeah. i don't like to talk about it much. i don't like living a life like this. i wanna help others with me. you know?"
"i get what you mean." liam opened the door for me politely and i climbed into the small gray car.
"it suits you."
"what?"
"your car suits you."
"what do you mean?"
"oh, i'm not sure. just seems like a car you'd have."
"oh."
"how far away do you live?"
"only like five minutes. by the time i get out of the parking lot, it's usually around 2:30 i get home."
"i walk, but i think i live father than you. my house is about 10 miles away."
"you walk? wow, ally, if you ever need a ride let me know. if i'd known this before i'd have given you a ride."
"right, so you could bang me sooner."
"what?"
"i'm not deaf, liam, and i'm not stupid either."
"i'm confused."
"do you really need help with math?"
"well, yes, no, i don't know. yeah, a little, but..."
"but that's not why you want me over."
"i guess."
"okay liam, it's fine. i'll help you with your math, and maybe stay a little while." i smiled slightly and looked out the window, seeing in the reflection of the window that liam had a smirk.
i'll admit it, liam wasn't bad looking. he had blonde hair just barely swept across his forehead. his eyes were soft brown, a contrast that made a world of difference. he'd had a brother, anthony, who had looked exactly the same except for the eyes. liam and anthony looked totally different because of their eyes. in my opinion, anthony's eyes were far too intense. everything was too bright; everyone needed a dark and light contrast. liam had this and his face seemed so much warmer than anthony's.
