Chapter 1
Waking up, being blinded by rays of bright, bright sunshine- Bleh. Bleh. Bleh. Bleh. God, I hate sunshine.
It's 7 am, and it's Friday. Oh, hell. It's Friday. I thought it was stupid Saturday. Damn me, I'm stupid. And it looks like I have to be to school in 15 minutes. Awesome.
At least I know I don't have to pack a lunch. Only a slice of an apple will do it. Now you may be thinking I don't have food in my house. Think again. I have plenty of food in my house. I just refuse to eat. Eating makes you fat. I don't want to be fat. I have been before, and I'm not going back to that.
Anyway.... I gotta get the hell to school. I'm gonna be late. Though it doesn't really matter, because I'm always late, anyway.
Let me tell you what I think about school: I freaking hate it. It's horrible. Literally. I have to wear a sweatshirt in 90 degree heat just to cover up my scars and ribs.
But that's not anything new. I've been having to do this for over a year. And it's my fault. Do I have many friends? No. I have Anthony. A friend I've had since childhood. But that's okay. I don't really have a fondness for people, anyway.
Ok. So I'm at school now. I walk in, and surprise, surprise. There's a pop quiz on my absolute (not) favorite subject! And, There's a new person in the class that I'll probably have to deal with. Her name is Katherine. She actually doesn't look that bad. Kinda pretty, actually. Much better looking then me.
But I can't make assumptions. I don't know her. I don't know if she's nice. Not all innocent- looking people are flowery on the inside.
I take a seat down at my desk, to realize that Katherine sits next to me. How did I learn her name so fast? Well it was kind of obvious, having the teacher, Mrs. Mino, written "Welcome, Katherine!" in big letters across the chalk board.
"Hi", she says shyly to me. "Hi, there!" I reply back to her. Wait, "hi, there"? What was I thinking? Am I some fricking country person? "You must be Katherine." The hell? Of course she was Katherine, she was the only new person in the class.
"Yeah. That's me! What's your name?" "Well I'm none other than Miss Katherine the Great!" again, the hell? Seriously. Why am I so stupid? At least I got a laugh out of her.
"Ok. So what should I call you, Miss Alison, or Miss Alison the Great? Or both?" she joked. "Haha, just call me Alison." "Ok. Alison."
"Girls! Come on! What are we doing, stop talking, please!" Mrs. Mino says to us. "Who does things like that?" she mutters to herself. I don't think there's ever been a day she hasn't said that.
"Sorry!" We reply, giggling. "It's ok. Do your test, Alison."
"You're so lucky you don't have to take this", I whisper to Katherine, "this stuff's hard." She smiles, turns away, and starts burying her head in a book, "The Fault In Our Stars". I loved that book!
I loved her smile. Her teeth were as white as snow, and glimmered like no other. And her shiny lip-glossed lips were literally just perfect.
I think I want to hang out with this girl more often.
