When I Say Run, Run! (Ruby Redfort x reader)

How did it happen?

(Y/N) sat awkwardly in LB's office with Hitch. Ruby was yet to turn up. LB stared at (Y/N).

"So, this is the daughter of the  (L/N)'s?" LB said, her voice low.

"Yes. I'm sure she is. Their daughter went into an orphanage-the one we sent her to." Hitch said, looked down at (Y/N).

"What was the name of the place, (Y/N)?"

"Daisy Sun." She shuddered.

"What's with the shudder?" LB snapped.

(Y/N) jumped at this and mumbled: "I'm cold."

Ruby then walked in and closed the door.

"I have the files fo-" she caught site of  (Y/N).

"Wha-?"

"Hitch said she followed you Redfort. Down the slide and into the tunnel. You need to be more careful. She could've been another spy working for the Count."

"But she wasn't." Ruby sighed, sitting down.

"Her parents worked for us." Hitch said.

(Y/N) was very quiet. She looked down, hardly remembering her parents. "Was it both my mom and dad or just one of them?"

"It was both." LB said. "You had no siblings and when they died you were less than a week old."

"How did they die?"

Hitch held his breath. (Y/N) noticed this. LB cleared her throat.

"Since you are asking, you should ask the guy next to you."

(Y/N) looked directly at him.

"I was doing some work with them." He began. His eyes clashed with (Y/N)'s (E/C) (A/N: for those of you who don't know it means eye colour. Lol, how I just pause at a really serious bit. Sorry, do continue.)

"(Y/N), some henchmen ambushed your house when I was there. They shot your dad at the door and your mother handed you to me. She told me to run. Run to Spectrum. Tell them to put her somewhere where she will be safe.- were her exact words. I never knew what happened to her." He placed his hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder. Her eyes widened.

"Then what?" Her voice was barely audible.

"Well, I took you to Daisy Sun. And there you grew up, later to be adopted by the Redforts and here you are right now."

"You took me to the orphanage?"

He nodded. "I'm so sorry. But I didn't know what else to do. 'Sides, we had an agent there to check on you and I came to see you regularly, you just can't remember."

"Oh." (Y/N) looked to the ground. She had tears in her eyes and she clenched her fists. "Who killed them?" She asked through gritted teeth. Ruby hugged her.

"The Count sent people." LB said, showing no sign of sympathy.

"The Count. Von Viscount?"

LB, Ruby and Hitch exchanged glances.

"You know him?" Ruby asked.

"I heard of him. He tried to adopt me when I was 12. Only they wouldn't let me. This nice lady, Anne, would always find excuses for him not to."

Hitch smiled. "Well, LB," he began to change the subject. "What do you say we hire this kid as an agent to work along side me and Redfort?"
