Chapter 2 - Cameron

The pleased laugh under her breath and the sound of her hand slapping my back is all I make out as I choke on thin air. Holy shit. I'm surprised my eyes don't roll out of my head from the way I can feel them bugging out right now. I pound my fist on my chest, still choking.

"Are you trying to kill me, sweet cheeks?" I rasp.

"Of course not." Her lashes flutter innocently. "You haven't had a chance to dick me down yet."

My accusative finger points at her. "That's it. Now we have to get married. You bought this on yourself."

"Dude?"

We both turn our heads at the sound of Nate's voice. He's looking between us with wide eyes and a perplexed expression on his face.

"Did you hear?" I tell him solemnly, wrapping an arm around Avery and pulling her into my side. My brain short-circuits for a second as the warmth of her body passes on to mine. Her outrageous curves fit so snugly against me it takes all I have not to throw her down right now and have my way. "We're getting married."

"It was the right thing to do since I took his offer on bearing his children." Avery adds with an equally serious tone.

I can't help the surprised snort that escapes me. She didn't even miss a beat playing along. One glance from the corner of my eye shows the reluctant twitch of Avery's mouth.

"A lot to accomplish in five minutes. But I can't exactly blame you." His eyes sweep over Avery with interest. My fingers tighten on her hip before I realize what I'm doing and I immediately force myself to relax. Tell me why the fuck I just got so jealous right now.

"Gracias." She flits her fingers at him and his eyes widen.

"Hot."

"Alright." I interject with an agitated clap of my hands. "I'm going to get Jaxon. Lay off my woman, Neuter."

"Stop fucking call me that." Nate scowls at my choice of nickname for him. "I'm huge."

"Ooh." Avery rubs her hands together. "Is this the part where you fight over who gets me by whipping out your dicks and comparing size? Cause I'm game."

Nate's jaw hits the floor and I immediately burst into laughter. I never know what's going to come out of her mouth next and it's amusing as hell. I clutch my stomach from the laugh pains, slapping my knee. Every time I try to quiet down, Nate's expression of intrigued but slightly horrified sets me off again. Avery is laughing herself, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye then snorting when she glances at Nate again. When he realizes we're not about to stop anytime soon, he just shakes his head before muttering and walking away.

"You," I say as I pull in a breath, "are fucking awesome."

"Thanks. I tend to get that a lot."

"Really? Because so do I."

Her eyes narrow playfully. "Bet I'm more than awesome you are."

I'm not even feigning offence when my hand flies to clutch my chest. "Now that's just hurtful. They don't come better than me around these ends, babe."

"I'm always down for a little wager."

"Huh." I rub my hand along my jaw in intrigue. "Do tell."
