Chapter 1

August POV

Man today was not about to be my damn day. My nigga Chris was MIA all wekeend probably out there with his new THOT of the week Candy. Who the fuck name is Candy anyway? I couldn't be mad though she was kinda cute. I had spent the whole weekend with Amerie even though I call her Meri. She was the only girl who rode for a nigga. We went through so much bullshit together. Parents trippin, my brother Mel getting killed and then her cheating ass bfs. Why she fucked with lame niggas I'll never know. Forreal though I loved her and she ain't even know it. In mid thought i heard the door.

"I'm coming damn." I am so ready to graduate. These early mornings is not for me. 

"Damn nigga could you move any slower." Of course it was Meri she was always ready to get to school. Hell she probably was hoping Monday would come sooner than it had. 

"You came over unannounced shawty. Ain't nobody tell you to be here before 6:30!" I had spent all morning thinking how I didn't want to get up for school this morning and totally forgot to get ready. 

"Mhmm 6:30 and school starts in 30 minutes. So you betta hop yo skinny high yellow ass in the shower and be ready in 20 minutes if you don't want to get left." 

"OK mom" I said in my baby voice. I knew it would get a smile out of her. God I loved to see her smile.

I walked on back to my room and hopped in the shower for bout 10 minutes, Usually would take longer but Meri was not playing she would leave a nigga and it was way too cold outside to be walking. I did all my hygiene stuff and them threw together my camo pants with the white obey shirt and my white retro 5s. It wasn't all that but it was enough for today anyways. 

By the time I came back to the kitchen Meri was sitting on the counter looking all her phone. I could tell by the way she was frowning something was up. 

"Why you looking like that?" I asked knowing she would say nothing but hey i can at least try, As I was opening the fridge i realized we ain't have no food so i guess i would just drop by Big Mikes after school. Moms was working a double and knew she was gone fix dinner tonight.

"Nothin." she finally answered. Told ya she never wanted to talk about her problems until she was laid out on the sofa in a tub of half baked Ben and Jerry watching reruns of Moesha and One on One. 

"Alright let's go then."
