"I'm sorry Dani, It's not gonna work out."
Dani was startled at first, but she knew it was coming. For weeks, the relationship between the two was falling apart. Jen had been drifting away from her: popping in and out of conversations they'd have online when they were apart, declining every invitation Dani would offer for her to be with her. Jen never say a word to her when she saw her in the halls.
"Look, I'm sorry. I still love you, I just don't think we're right for each other."
"Oh bullshit! You don't still love me and you fucking know it!" Dani shot back.
"I-I'm sorry" Jen said in a hushed voice.
"You don't have to be. The feeling is mutual. So go have fun with your side whore!"
"Dani!"
"You think I didn't know?! You think I'm fucking stupid?!" Dani yelled. She was a short tempered girl, with jet black hair and a pessimistic view in everything. Although she didn't it often, she hated being lied to.
"There isn't anyone!"
"Yeah right. Not even Delilah? Or how about Nicole? And Tiffany? How about her?"
"Just stop it!"
"No, I won't! I'm not an idiot. Get the fuck out of my house!" Her voice broke. Tears were forming in her eyes. "I said get out!"
"Fine. Go suck a dick you bitch!" Jen screamed back at her. She stormed out of the room, leaving Dani alone. She got up and slammed the door shut. Leaning on the door, slowly sinking onto the ground, she broke down into tears and sobbed. From across the room, he phone began to loudly vibrate. The caller ID said Iggy. Iggy was her best friend. He was always there when she needed him, and this was one of those times.
"H-hey"
"Dan, have you been crying?" His voice sounded through her phone.
"..."
"Oh god, you and Jen broke up didn't you?"
"Uh huh" she shuddered
"Say no more, I'm on my way"
"No Ig, don't. I'm fine"
"It's too late, I'm on my way. I'll be there in fifteen, I just need to pick up a big tub of peanut butter cookie dough ice cream and DVDs. Your favorite movies are still Farris Bueller's Day off, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Godfather and La Règle De Jue. Right?"
"Yeah" Dani sighed. She knew that there was no way she could stop him from coming.
Halfway through The Godfather II, Iggy finally dared to ask Dani about the breakup. "Dani, is everything alright?"
"No. But the ice cream and the movies are making it better. Come on, we still have the last Godfather, Monty Python and La Règle to get through."
"Stop trying to escape from answering my questions. How did it go?" He paused the movie and turned to face his friend.
"Well, she came in, we talked a bit and then she said she was breaking up with me"
"And you said...?" Iggy insisted.
"I called bullshit. She said she still loved me." Dani tried to explain. "Then it turned into a screaming match. She cheated on me!"
"Oh damn"
"She meant everything to me. She was my world! How could she do that?"
