GAME

A/N: This is my first one shot story, I am not a pro so expect some grammatical and typo's error but still I hope you can enjoy reading my Story ~~

ONE SHOT:

Ten years had passed. Ten years since THAT tragedy happens, but the memory of it was still fresh in my mind and I know, that it will never stop haunting me until the day I die. I am Ken De Leon and through this text, I'll tell you the story of my tragic life.

It was in the year 2016. I was a 3rd year student that time. Unfortunately, I was also a loser. Everyday those who are higher and stronger than me, bully me. They punch me, kick me, take my food, take my money and even insult me and my parents. Of course I can't do anything about that because I.... am a LOSER. My life that time was only flowing in one cycle. I wake up in the morning, eat my breakfast, go to school, get hit by bullies, take a rest for a while, glance at my long time crush, Athena, and go directly to our room just to listen to our lesson and different insult coming from my classmate and my teacher. Great isn't it? But all of that change because of a game. The game that change not only me but everyone who plays it.

I can still clearly remember how it started. I am walking to school with the thought that it was just going to be like any other day. "Another day, Another Suffering" I even said at the back of mind- but all of that change when I bump to a guy. At first, I thought he's going to hit me like what the other kid in school do to me. But I'm wrong, he didn't hit me instead, he just look at me for a second and walk away. To be honest I was shocked by what he did and it takes a few moments before I regain my sense back only to find a thing in front of me. It's actually look like a diamond- a transparent diamond with 4-5 inches in size to be exact. It's also fascinating and really attractive. I picked it up and looked at the direction where the guy passed. He's gone. "Should I give it back to him?" I ask myself again "Of course I should". I spent the remaining time before the class start and even my lunch break to find the guy but I just couldn't find him. Time keep passing until dismissal came and still didn't had my luck. So that day I came home with the diamond on my company.

In the evening, after I finished doing my homework, I decided to sleep and just when I'm about to close my eyes I heard something, something talking. I sit at my bed and roam my eyes to check if there's someone in my room except me of course, but there's none. Maybe It just my imagination- but no, I don't think so. "Who the hell is talking?" I said aloud to myself and to my surprised it answered "It's me Look over here Ken". I looked at the direction where the voice came from but the only thing I saw is some of my supplies and the.... Diamond. "So now diamond is talking...." I sarcastically said but again something answered "Well, an ordinary diamond can't talk, but I can" I was dumbfounded while looking at the diamond before I manage to said "What the @#$% are you?" with that its transform to a tiny girl. I think it's also 4-5 inches in size "Hi Ken, I'm Sabrina and I'm here to change your life" she said while smiling

I looked at her with so much in my mind like how the hell can a diamond talk? How the hell does the diamond turn into a tiny girl? And what is this thing talking about? Help? How can she help me? Where and why would she help me? "Aren't you done looking at me? It's actually a bit embarrassing that you're looking straight at me" she said while pouting "I am..... Dreaming?" I answered her but she shake her head "Nope, you're not. I'm real and I am really going to help you" she's trying to convince me "What? I mean where? No-why?" I really don't get it. I'm so confused right now "Hahahahaha, Ok, I'll explain everything so listen carefully" she said while laughing and I nod "First, the reason why I'm here is because you need me- oooppsss!! Let me finish. So yah, you need me that's why I'm here. You're being bully because of your looks and you're weak, right?" I nod. How the hell did she knew about this thing "I came from kólasi, and the reason why I know some things about you and how I get here is because that's what my master want" she still smiling while talking "Master?" I asked her and once again she nod "You already met him but I'm sure that you'll meet him again someday... BY THE WAY Let us go back to what I'm talking, so.... I'm here to help you. How? Simple, I'll change you but in exchange you need to play a game" she jump in my bed and go straight to my front "Change? Game? "I ask confused "Definitely! for every game you'll be winning, I'll give you the choices to change your looks, strength, intellectual or anything you want to change about yourself as a prize" I looked at her "Are you serious?" she change her expression from smiling to irritated "Hell yeah, I'm not going to waste my time here if I'm not serious, and one more thing... Don't you want to be different? Aren't your tired being yourself?" Well, I do tired of my life so "Ok, what game?" Once again she smiled before shouting "Quest!! Let's play a quest. All you need to do is to win my challenges and once you do it a card will appear. That card will be your ticket for your change. Oh and by the way you need to put yourself to this ok?" We spent another hour talking about the game she told me before I go to sleep and in the morning? I started playing her game, it's actually easy and what's good about it is I really can change something in me every time I got a card by playing the quest. Days passed and I got addicted to her game, I also almost change everything in me, I got a lot stronger than before, brighter than before, handsome than before. Treatments of people to me also changed, no one is bullying me unlike before and Athena, I finally can talk to her and hang with her and I think I already have enough so I decided to stop the game so I talk to Sabrina but the thing is she doesn't want to; "Quit?! You want to quit my game?!" she shouted at me, this is the first time she shouted and even with her size? I can definitely say that she's scary "You really think, I'm letting you quit? Hah! When you agree to join my game, you already sign to me and gamble your spirit so THERE'S. NO. TURNING. BACK" she sarcastically laughed before she disappear. I shout her name several times but I got no answer. Days had passed since Athena disappear and since then I never saw her anymore. That time I thought I'm done playing her game, No quest, no challenge, no card until my birthday came and after a long time she came back still having the smile on her face, her face was still the same, her smile didn't also change the only difference is she's not small anymore, right now she's standing in front of me or rather in front of my class while looking at me. She's going to be my classmate? As our adviser ask her to sit wherever she want, she choose the chair next to me and before she had her sit, she looked at me and murmured "Happy Birthday Ken, Miss me? Ready for another round of MY game?" I looked at her with mixed emotion- confusion, fear, nervous "I told you, there's no turning back. I just take a rest for a while, you didn't think that we're done, did you" She said as if it will hurt her before smiling again and finally looked in front. I can't focus to my class with her words in my head especially the things she told me before she disappear. Who the hell really is she? What is she really talking about? There are time that I glance at her but it seems that she's just listening to our teacher. "I need to talk to her" I said at the back of my mind "I need to clear some things" I added before trying to bring back my focus in class, Lunch break time, I decided to approach her and bring her to the rooftop so we can have a talk "What is it, Ken?" she asked me in a bored tone "I just want to ask you something" I answered. She looked at me with her bored face "What" I take a few sigh before continuing "Last time, before you disappear you told me that I already sign to you and that I already gamble my spirit. I don't understand, what do you mean by that?" She smiled "You can't quit this game, that's all" she said "Speaking of the game I have a challenge for you and you need to do it" she's combing her hair with her hand while talking "That guy wearing jacket with his uniform at the ground... I want you to beat him up" I looked at the guy before turning my eyes at her "Why would I do it? I'll get in trouble and I already told you I want to quit!!" I shouted. No I can't just beat any guy. "And I already told you, YOU. CAN'T. QUIT. And I'm sure you'll do it cause if you don't...... something will definitely happen to the people surround. And I'm sure that you're not going to like that. Anyway I need to go, think about what I said, Hoping to see a new card from you" she said before walking away. I looked at the guy she's talking again. Should I hit him for this GAME? No! I can't. Sorry, Sabrina! But I don't think I'll do your challenge. Later that day, I walk home not doing anything, especially the challenge, Sabrina gave. And also after our talk, she didn't attend the remaining class. I didn't also see her in any corner of the school. But who cares where she is, I just hope that she'll never come back again. As I enter our house I shouted to inform my mother that I'm home. I was walking to my room when I stop in the front of our mirror near the stair. I looked at my reflection "You change a lot" I said, and before I continue walking I heard my mother scream so I ran to her only to find her bathing in her own blood and Sabrina is standing beside her looking at me "I warn you, Ken. You didn't do the challenge and this is your punishment" I was in a big shocked, I can't move in my place, I can't even move nor say anything. Why? Why? WHHHYYY!!! Mother... No... no.... This can't be.... "Next time, NEVER ignore me." She said before leaving me in a big shocked. Hour passed, I heard our door open. I was sitting, holding my knees. I can already feel someone walking toward me "Ken!" It's my father "What happen to you?! Where's your mother?!" I looked at him with the tears in my eyes "I-I'm sorry... S-sorry" I don't how to tell him what happen "What? Why? Where's your mother?" he asked. I looked at him and turn at where the body of my mother was, but it's gone. To my shocked I suddenly stood up and looked at my father "Mom!! Where's mom?! Mom? Mom? MOOOM!!"
I can say that my father was also confused at what is happening "Ken, calm down. Can you please tell me first what happen?" I looked down "I... don't know" I said. Father sighed "Maybe your mom buy something in the grocery, go to your room. I think you need some sleep" He said. Just like what my father said, I go to my room. Maybe I really need to take a rest. But is everything just my imagination? Mom, is she alive? Is sabri- "Hi Ken!!" My question was interrupt by Sabrina wait...Sabrina? I looked at her and hold her shoulder. "My mother, where is she? W-what did you do to her?" She smiled and removed my hand from her shoulder "She die...remember?" she laughed "You.... You really kill her" My breathing started to grow heavier and my eyes already going dark "I didn't kill her" I stopped "You're the one who kill her" she said while walking to my bed "Remember?" She said as she sit at the side of it "I didn't kill her!!" I shouted "Not literally, but you're the reason why. If only you follow me, this will never happen" she's giving me chills and I don't like it. She's creepy...absolutely creepy. I put my palms in my face "What do you want!!" I surrender. The person in front of me isn't ordinary- I know that from the start and I'm so dumb for falling to her bait "Same as always. Let's Play." I sighed "Fine! But stay away from my family and friends" I said while clenching my jaw but she just laughed "Sorry Ken, I can't do that" She said "What do you mean, you can do that?!" she hold my hand and pull me a bit so I can be in front of her "I have another challenge and you know what can possibly happen if you don't do it" I sighed "What is it?" I asked "Kill... ATHENA" she said as she laughed. I pull my hand at her and looked at her with an angry expression "Are you CRAZY?!" I shouted but she just looked at me "No, I'm bored but it's OK if you don't want to do it. Anyway I can just kill her even with your dad as your punishment for not listening to me once again" I clenched my jaw. Dang it! She's threating me.
That night, I don't know how I'm able to do it but I kill Athena. The girl I loved, the girl who's one of the reason why I join the game. I lost her. Days, weeks, months had passed I already lost almost every friend I have. I only had my father and Sabrina who I wish to be gone to my life. I also done lots of thing against my will. I robed, torture people and even kill because of this game. I'm tired. I want to escape this jail but I don't know how, I need to protect my last piece-Dad. Every day I also ask and convince Sabrina to let me go. To let me quit this game, but I really don't have luck until the most terrifying challenge came "I receive a message from master" I looked at her "He want to see you" she said "Me?" I asked "Obviously, so come on, hold my hand, I'm going to take you to him" As I hold her hand we reached an unfamiliar place. There are also lot of people to it except me and Sabrina "Where are we?" I asked her but I got no answer so I looked at her only to find out that she's not beside me anymore and instead she's sitting in one of the chair in the ...audience? I try to call her but she's just smiling at me. I was about to ran to her when I hear a voice "Good Day PLAYERS" the voice started "I am Bullet, the lord and the creator of this game" he said. He actually looked familiar. I think I saw him already- He's the guy who dropped Sabrina before "I'm sure some of you can recognize me but it's not important anymore. Cause TODAY is your last game. THIS GAME will decided whether you die or survived" die? Survive? Everyone start to murmur "If you want to survived, you want to be free then Play" he added "Tell us the game!! Let's end this" I heard someone shout that make Bullet laughed "Sure, The game is simple, you need to kill the other player" Whaaatt? "Simple as that, so ready.... Set.... Go" As Bullet said go, Lot of player started to kill the others. I can see the yearning to their eyes, everyone want to survive and so do I. Unconsciously, I grab some weapon at the ground and join the game. I kill everyone I see. "I need to escape this thing" that's the only thing I knew that time. I can't die. I continue killing people until I was the only one standing. I also got a lot of bruise from other player but I didn't mind it anymore because I win. Sabrina and Bullet walked to me with a smile on their face "Congratulation!! You're free" that's what they told me before everything turns black. I wake up in the hospital room with my worried father in my side "Ken, you dumbass!! Do you know how worried I am?! We already lost your mother and I don't know what will happen if I lost you too. What happen to you? Who did this?" he asked me but I just smiled. It doesn't matter as long as I'm safe and free. Now, Ten years had passed, I never saw Sabrina ever again and the story of my tragic life? No one knows it except you who are reading this. And before I end my story I just want to leave a moral to everyone to always be contented to your life and never yearn too much, it can cause a big troubled and damage to your life. Believe me.
