§•Kat's POV•§
First period dragged on for what seemed like forever. I was stuck in a class with none of my friends and my head was pounding. Ancient history? Why did we have to learn about this sort of stuff anyway? Einstein is dead, the world wars are over, and who cares what I ate for breakfast? It's all in the past! I sighed heavily and tied to tune out. It wasn't easy with the old teacher's nasally voice that scratched at my eardrums.
"Kat!" I jumped. Mr.Whatshisface was glaring at me.
"Yes sir?" I smiled as sweetly as I could, without seeming too fake. His anger visibly died down a notch. He nodded at a boy a few desks away, who waved at me.
"You and Jake. Project partners." The teacher finally stopped his droning to let us work freely. I sighed deeply, then slowly collected my stuff to move over to the boy's desk, yet a small cough interrupted me. He had beaten me to it.
Jake Valentine was a kid who you wouldn't look twice at. Not too hot, not too cold but just.. normal. He was around 6 feet tall, with not much to show for it. He wasn't really defined or buff, instead he was just averagely skinny. He had deep blue-grey eyes surrounded by a smattering of thick, (why do guys have amazing eyelashes?!) dark brown eyelashes that matched his shaggy medium length brown hair to within a shade difference. He wasn't a geek, but still smart. He wasn't a popular jerk, but still well known. Jake was one guy I could call a friend without worrying what they'd think of me. He had also asked me out previously and I told him we were "just friends", but that seemed like forever ago now. Surely he knew I wasn't into him.
"Hey," he said while scooting his chair closer with squeaky tugs.
"Sup Jake," I was actually pleased to be paired with him for this assignment. "What are we meant to be doing again?" He mock-gasped, which made me laugh. "I might've, sort of, not have been paying attention.. so yea..." I chuckled. Jake took it all in his stride. He flipped open his book and to a neat handwritten page on our task. I whistled.
"What can I say?" He smiled. "I'm prepared" I smiled at Jake and leaned my elbows on the desk to work on the assignment. Buzz my phone vibrated. I pulled out my old iPhone 5 and checked the screen. There were two missed calls and a message notification. The number was... I didn't know who. That was new

9:46am
->Hey babe
I stared at the screen, frowning. I couldn't stand losers who did that, hitting up girls who they didn't even know. "Whatever," I shrugged and replied to the weirdo.
9:49am
<-What do you want fu-boi?
The reply was almost instant.
9:50
->You, tonight. Or whenever you want ;)
Frustrated, I typed back as quickly as I could, adding in a bit of false info for security reasons.
9:53
<-Look, I don't care what you want because I'm not a slut. I.. have a boyfriend and he will be super mad at you. So please leave me alone to do my history assignment.
He replied
9:54
->When we're done tonight, you will be history coz I'm going to destroy you ;)
I slammed my phone onto the desk in annoyance. This guy had some nerve.
"You have a boyfriend?" Jake asked in disbelief, and what I hoped wasn't in longing. I merely looked at him with regret hidden behind humour, and winked.
"Who?" He asked a little bit quickly, and I saw him swallow uncomfortably.
Cam. The traitorous words ached to be spoken, but my brain held them back.
"Just a guy, you don't know him." I mumbled, lying. I wish I had a boyfriend but it looked like they would all stay strictly boy friends.
