surviving christmas

stuck in the middle of nowhere

my mum and dad decided to take turns driving while  me and cooper was going to be sleeping .

cooper was reading his camping book  how to survive when your lost in a desert.

he was just like mum he loved adventure stuff for Christmas he wanted binoculars and a I pad.

I also wanted an I pad and ugg boots  and a new coat that was over £100 it was in fashion and all of my friends were getting it but my mum says she can't afford everything I want.

she never had much when she was my age and she says Christmas was not about gifts but about family.

Dad says the same thing but he says if I didn't change my attitude I would get nothing but fruit in my stockings and when he says something he means it.

it took maybe a day to get out of the USA and the sat nav broke and even though my mums a geography teacher we got lost.

it had nothing to do with mum because  it was dads turn to drive so she was a sleep and Dad has no sense of direction and he didn't Want to wake my mum up so he carried on driving on a dirt  road because it had no tarmac we were in the middle of no where.

the side of the roads were icey and had 10ft  snow drifts so dad drove slowly.

autumn do you have any signal because the van has ran out of petrol dad said in a whisper so  he wouldn't wake mum up.

no Her phone is out of battery and we aren't near any phone lines so I doubt any of us will have any signal

since we have no heating you two go and run up the road and see how far we are from a main road or any houses and RUN NOT WALK THE FASTER YOU RUN THE WARMER YOU WILL BE BUT RUN ON THE GRASS SO IF YOU WONT GET HURT WHEN YOU SLIP the last thing we need is a trip to the emergency room mum says climbing into the back of the van.

she handed everyone 6 pairs of thermal socks pink and purple for her  and me the boys had  different shades of blue socks.

we had Norton jackets they were expensive but warm all the clothes we brought with us was from that brand.

mum came prepared she knew what dad was like so we were nice and warm.

If Avery was here now she would probably call her dad and he would get a search crew out Cooper said as we walked on the icey road.

Avery was my twin sister my mum and Dad broke up a year before me and Avery was born mum had a month relation ship with someone called Andi and she became pregnant.

she got back together with dad a month before I was born that was when we lived in California .

Andi got married when I was a  few months old he is an actor and a million air he has his own plane .

He still lives in California with Avery I left with mum and dad when I was 5 to go back to new York where they met Avery didn't want to go so she stayed she is more of a brat than me.

we are identical apart from she has very short hair and her hair is straight.

Cooper didn't like her only mum did  her even though she thinks she is spoilt.

she wouldn't cope in this weather even I struggled with it cooper kept walking to far a head.

Autie I don't think Dad read the sign because it says road closed and this goes on for over 10 miles and since we are in the middle of nowhere and its 4 days from Christmas cooper says heading back and taking my arm when he kept slipping over he knew where mum and dad was because they were starting to cook dinner using the camping stove.

we were having chips and rice for tea mum had brought potatoes so we could have chips.

we had been gone for over an hour so we were both really hungry.
