~Lil's POV~
"Five six seven eight! Let's go girls!" Mrs. Jegan calls out to us. We have one week until our dance condition and me and the rest of the team are dancing non stop after school. "Lil perfect! Get ready for the landing position!" We get ready for the last position where all the dancer line up in either a hand stand or a spilt. I have the middle so I have to do a hand stand spilt which is was what it sounds like. Mrs.-Jagan our school's dance teacher has been teaching me since I was four so give or take I'm really good. "Amazing Ladies and Gent!"

My best friend Finik Raints is the only guy on the team. And before you stereotype him yes he is gay but that has nothing to do with it. He is a passionate dancer with a big heart. Heck if I was his type I would date him. And he said the same thing about me.

"Ok so one thing done so on to Band." Finik smirks. I'm part of the Dance team, The main band person (no not the conductor), and the lead singer in choir. And through all of that Finik still wait for me for two hours each day after school to give me a ride home. I honestly love this guy!

"You know me too well!" I say and punch him lightly in the shoulder.
"And after that we can go shopping for our masks, your dress, and my suit for the mascaraed ball." He nudges me in the shoulder.
"Totally and after that I'm going to ask out Gerald Hasts!" Gerald is a major nerd and science geek that goes to our school.
"I'm serous Lil!" Finik loves going to dances, parties, and any other social event. "Come on please?"

"Maybe, will that do?" I ask hesitantly.
"Why not sugar plum?" Don't even get me started on his nicknames for me.

After all the talk of the mascaraed ball I didn't even realize we were at the band room door.
"See you in a bit slumberfly mc butterfly!" He shouts from the other edge of the hallway.

After a half hour of band I start heading to the chorus room.
"Hey!" I turn my head in the slightest possible way just in case the person wasn't talking to me. I guess he was because he came walking up to me.
"Hello Hunter," I smile. "How are you?"
"Wonderful! And you my lady?" He grabs my hand and kisses it with a smirk on his face.
"Uh I'm well?" I slide my hand away and look at him in a strange way. "I have to get going but it was nice talking to you Hunter."

"Before you go I couldn't help but overhear you say you might be going to the mascaraed ball, is that true?" His face says idea but since he lacks a brain I don't know what to process.
"I'm considering it. Why?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Well if you go maybe we could go together." He grins and makes a cross between goo goo eyes and a puppy dog face.
"Why?" Is he serious?
"For a date!" The grin doesn't leave his face.
"We barely know each other." What the heck!
"We could!" He turns defensive.
"No." I walk away and don't look back. What is he thinking?

"I don't know what's more shocking. The fact the bad boy and hottie of the school asked you out or that you said no!" Finik is going all out on the ride home. I regret telling him now. I'm sure I'll regret regretting it later but for now I'm just regretting it.
"I don't know him that well. I only know he's the bad boy and hottie of the school, his name is Hunter Graynes, and he's a baseball player." I sigh and look out the window.

"Just tell me it's not because of the sport he plays?" I'm a huge football fan but I do kinda like baseball. Just not as much.
"No Finik it's not because of the sport he plays!" I reassure him. "And if you think he's such a hottie you can't date him!"
"Except he likes girl," he sighs. "Come on let's go to the ball! It will be fun and everyone is wherein masks so you won't know which one is him!"

"Yea I will a mask only covers your eyes." I inform him.
"But it makes it hard." He's got a point.
"Fine!" I blurt out hoping this will not come back to bite me in the ass.
"That's my girl!" He smirks.
"Shut up and drive!" I point to the road. I want to go home and sleep.
"Yea yea whatever," he laughs. "I'm glad you're going."
"I'm not!" I sigh.

"I'm home!" I call out to my mom. My parents are divorced so I live with my mom. My dad calls sometimes but it's hard to pick up the phone knowing he didn't fight to get full custody of me.
"Hey sweetie! I picked up your dress for the ball!" She calls from the kitchen.
"How'd you know I was going?" I ask walking into the kitchen.

"A mother knows!" She sings happily. "You can get your own mask though it's your disguise!"
"More like escape." I laugh. "Is Ken coming home for dinner?" Ken is my mom's fiancé. They meet three weeks after the divorce. I was only eight when my parents spilt. I didn't call him dad because my dad lived in the house because he couldn't find a new one. After he moved it kinda just stuck but Ken knows I think of him as my dad too.

"Yes he's on his way. I'm making pork chops and green beans." The first meal we ate after I found out the were engaged.
"Yum!" I lick my lips in excitement.
"So what's up with Hunter?" She asks as soon as I leave the room. I quickly back track into the kitchen.
"What do you mean?" I question.
She points to the table. On top of the table is a rose and a note.
"I read it." She says as I pick it up.
"Wow thanks mom." I roll my eyes. I open the note. It says:

Dear Lil,
I hope you don't turn down my proposal of us going to the ball together. I am hoping you reconsider and meet me there. I'll be waiting at the punch table for you.

Love Hunter xxxx

The only problem with this note is I already turned him down and I'm not going to go to the punch table. "Something's not right with him asking me." I turn to my mom who's looking at me with questioning eyes.
"Isn't he the bad boy at your school? Maybe it's a prank or a dare." She shrugs. My mom knows all about modern day high school. She knows about popular, jocks, nerds, wallflowers, and of course the bad boys.
"I'm thinking." I grab the rose and head up stairs to the attic. I use the attic as my studio for my activities.

"I'm going to scream!" I slouch down in my computer chair. My dog Crickets curls up besides me. "I don't get why this has to happen to me."

Ching Ching!

My phone light up. I got a voicemail from a unknown number. I hesitate to press play but do it anyway.

"Hey Lil its Trever Frings from math I was wondering if you could meet me at the mall to help me with the homework. Text me with an answer thanks!"

Trevor Frings the star quarterback of the football team. And my fifth grade crush. I remember sitting up the old oak tree at recess when he came up and asked me to do him a favor. He wanted me to kiss him so his friends would stop saying he couldn't get a girl to kiss him. So I did. And we never talked since. But I'm pretty good at math so I texted him back saying where does he want to meet at the mall. He responds almost thirty seconds after saying on the second floor by the beauty store. I just send a thanks and start heading to my car.
