She sat in silence as the Suns Ray's brought an unnatural amount of warmth to her, filling the mind with wild thoughts as the Gods above reassured her safety. Her surroundings were overcome with a darkness only she knew of, with a slither of light peaking through a crack in the heavy brocade curtains as she let them slip close. All feelings of warmth leaving, had her craving for more. The heavy sounds of her ragged breathing was all she could hear in the deafening silence above.
It was at that moment she realised how long she had left until the tasks had to be complete. Helping her enemy to gain the role as the sun as she would the moon. They were quite the opposites; she was calm and collected whereas he was the epitome of the loud, over bearing personality. The gods chose them to fulfil there place high in the sky where the sun and moon shall live coexisting peacefully. Only to unite when the eclipse hit its highest peak.
The dust around her swirled as she stood up and swiftly exited the dim room and began to walk down the narrow corridor which led to the stairs that would take her to the lounge. The lounge was a place she could think seriously in. Her thoughts and mind where focused when sitting on one of her great grandmothers plush armchairs. She made her way around the dark oak coffee table and slowly sat as to not awake the dust gathering between the fabric of the chair. Closing her eyes she relaxed as she let her mind wander on its own.
A rough knock to the grand front door awakened her from the reverie her mind trapped her in. She found her legs slowly moving her to the door, cautious of whoever was there. Opening the door she was not surprised to see her enemy, the sun formally known as Darius. His stature was one of those aristocrats that think they are more superior then the rest. How the gods chose him to take Augustus' place as the sun baffled her to no end. For the he was a kind old soul who cared for her to even when she didn't need it.
Darius awoke her from her daydream as he whispered her name
"Evangeline" over and over to gain her attention. She found herself snapping back
"what do you want Dar" as he backed away slowly from the dangerous look plastered on her usually angelic features.
"I'm not here to insult you, the gods have requested our presence to talk about the tasks"Dar reassured her. Her gaze on him was skeptical as she scanned his face for any signs of Betrayal in this information she just received.
Taking his word she strode out of the front door and stood patiently on the porch waiting for Darius to catch up to her. A minute passed and she spotted Darius finally walk through the door
"Took you long enough" Evangeline teased.
"And I was freshening up" Darius replied in a pompous tone.
She sighed in defeat and led him round to the doorway In the wall at the back of her rose garden. Her hand wrapped in an odd fashion. Three hard knocks and four soft knocks.
The door opened to the grand staircase that led to the council hall, where the gods called every meeting of importance. As she walked up the stairs a sense of unease washed over her sending shivers through her spine. Darius behind her sensed the tension as they reached the end of their journey. Hushed voices could be heard as the metal door scraped across the wooden floor sending an ear piercing screech to echo around the room.
The gods spoke first silencing those who dare speak against them and there fellow council members.
"We have summoned you here today to send you one quest to retrieve some important items that will be used in your following tasks to complete" they spoke in a monotone voice sending chills into the cold, crisp room
"But surely you know I can't stand to be near him" Evangeline whined. Darius nodding in agreement.
"SILENCE!" Oswald bellowed his voice full of authority. The sound bouncing of the walls. The young teens stood stunned as Oswald never raised his voice out of spite.
"You will use this as bonding time now scurry along" he sang as his loyal friend Julius pushed them out the door and ushered them down the staircase once more.
