My feet dragged through the thick snow as I trudged to reach my destination. They were like ice blocks, heavy and cold. I pulled the sides of my cloak closer to my body for whatever warmth I could manage. Another gust of the icy wind that howled about pushed against me. I was currently struggling through a blizzard, and the storm was winning so far. However, I cared not about the weather that was putting me on trial at the moment, but was more concerned about returning home. I did not care about anything that would try to test me, I needed to get home. I would not let anything stand in my way, not even--
"My, my! Could it be my dearest maiden is still alive?"
Him.
I turned around in a panicked manner, only to be face to face with that beast.
"Why ever would you be out in this cruel snow storm? In all honesty, milady, I thought you'd have more common sense." He snickered.
I backed away from him, as much as I could with my boots buried under the snow. "How did you find me?!" I tried to yell over the howling wind.
He didn't even try, though. His voice was like a whisper, yet was audible for me to hear. "Isn't it obvious? Your scarlet cape glows through the storm."
"What d-do you want from me?!" I stuttered, trying to get as far as I possibly could from him without stumbling down.
He only let out a dark laugh in response. "No, no, my dearest maiden, I not want something from you, but rather you entirely."
Suddenly, a dead tree branch that was stuck in the snow made its way into my hands, and I pointed it at him. "Stay away from me!" I shrieked.
He only chuckled darkly, shaking his head. "Timid, are we? What exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Your attempt at trying to seem intimidating amuses me."
He came closer, and ripped the tree branch out of my hands, and threw it to the ground far from us.
"You try to threaten me, but I can see the fear and uncertainty in your eyes. Give into it, my maiden. Give into your fear. We both know it's too strong for you to fight. You may have the will and the determination, but you cannot win. Save yourself, and give up. Cut yourself free from the pain of fear, or live a life with it haunting you forever. It's your decision, dearest. Choose quickly, and choose wisely."
"I'd rather live a life of pain and suffering than a life with a monster like you!" I snarled, pushing away from him.
"Well, in that case," he looked down, his black hair was covering his eyes.
We stood there in an eerie silence before he spoke again.
"Consider your wish granted."
Terror consumed me when he looked back up. His eyes were alit with an amber glow, and his sharp teeth bared with his lips curved into an insane grin.

I ran for my life as the beast chased behind me. I could hear his loud, crunching steps, which only fueled me with more adrenaline. My heart was racing faster than our feet were moving. But I could not stop just yet. I had to find my way back home, I couldn't let this happen again.
The running behind me stopped. But yet I still went. I couldn't stop just yet, I needed to be far enough. When I finally looked over my shoulder, my own foolishness was one step ahead of me. I tripped over my cloak, and fell into the snow. My limbs were too heavy and weak. My heart was still beating out of my chest. I was cold and numb.
I felt his hand forcefully grasp my arm, and turn me over onto my back. He pinned me down on the snow. Peering up at him in horror, my breath came out in short pants. His eyes were still aglow, and his evil smile didn't fade. He gazed upon my body lustfully, and untied the knot keeping the cloak around my shoulders. I didn't know if it was just sexual desire or pure bloodlust this time, but there was no escape for me this time. I was so numb and so vulnerable, I felt paralyzed in his grip. Although I tried to struggle, I tried to thrash away from him as much as I could, he was still on top of me.
This was it.
This was my end.
Last thing I heard was my own blood curdling scream.
Then, nothing.
The trees watched in sorrow as my body was viciously harmed by that monster, the blizzard stopped to watch in remorse, and no longer snow fell, but only cold rain, for the skies were crying for me.
No hope remained in my tattered heart, and I lay there in the snow, my soon to be grave. My eyes were wide open, tears freezing them. Although they were open, I saw nothing. I heard nothing. I felt nothing.
This was the end of me.

Author's Note: This is the second time I had to write this prologue again because I accidentally screwed the first one up and deleted it. That random fact aside, I hope you enjoyed this prologue! This story is inspired (and pretty much based around) "Wolf Song" animatic, created by Dany Darkly. I cannot thank her enough for letting me use her characters for this story, and I absolutely adore her animatic. She's an amazingly talented artist and I highly encourage you to check out her work. To quarrel any confusion that may rise, I know some parts of this prologue aren't the same as some parts in the animatic, but that's for my own story reasons. And a reminder, this prologue is for an assignment for my Language Arts class, but I will in fact be continuing this story here on Wattpad. I truly do hope you enjoyed, and I shall see you all in the first chapter! Once more, thank you to Dany Darkly!
