A Splash of Misfortune and a Drop of Devastation

Prologue

As any mischievous 10 year old witch would, I went out to play in the garden filled with ingredients for my mother's potions. I enjoyed venturing further into the garden that seemed to go on forever, and knowing my mother, it probably did. This time, I had ventured further out than ever before, that was when I found it.

There was an egg behind the draeco vines, I didn't know whether to feel happy or scared, I felt both. I had never seen an egg like this before, it wasn't small like one that you might use for cooking, it was rather large and had spots. I picked the egg up and began walking home, I wanted to ask mother what kind of egg it was. Maybe it's a dragon! I lost track of reality as I pondered on what could possibly be inside. Suddenly, I smelled fire.

I looked up at the sky and saw an immense cloud of smoke and started to panic. I ran as fast as I could but when I arrived all I saw was ashes, my home. It had been burned to the ground. And the culprit was still there, standing in dark robes. I saw his face, it may have been dark but I saw it clearly. He had green eyes, and his hair was light brown. In a fit of anger I began running towards him but he was gone from my sight within seconds, I fell to my knees and started to cry, realizing that there was no one left. My family is gone. I walked back to what used to be my home, but this time I noticed something under the ashes. I must not have seen it before because I was so focused on the one that did this. I dug through the ashes, found a small chest-like box and opened it. Inside was a note from mother and father, along with mother's necklace and spell book, the note looked like it was written in a hurry. I almost couldn't make out the words it said

'Miva, our dear, dear daughter, we wish we didn't have to leave you like this, We're sorry. We know you'll be able to take care of yourself-'

I couldn't bring myself to finish reading the note, I didn't. I didn't know that within this note were so many clues that I needed only 5 years ahead.
