Chapter One (Marinette POV)

I loved jumping through the air with Chat. Every night we patrolled it felt like flying, it was an exquisite feeling. Tonight was an especially great night because it was late May in Paris and the moon was high on this cloudless night. We hopped around the city and did some quick checks to make sure no one was outside committing rotten crimes. Today was particularly quiet and it seemed the whole city was like that of the sky, peaceful and beautiful. Chat and I stopped at the Eiffel tower and sat up on the top of it.

"Wow," said Chat, "Tonight is really pretty, but not as purr-ty as you m'lady." 

I chuckled "Always a flirt Chat." 

"Well I may like to flirt with you, but I don't lie, I find you paw-sitively purr-fect," he said. 

I sighed. 

"Aw, what's wrong, I thought you were my furr-end," he started laughing. 

I laughed too. "Alright, Chat that's enough puns for tonight. I need a rest, how about we talk about something else for a little bit." 

"Fine, but if you expect me to let up on the puns you must be pre-paw-sterous." He stated jokingly. 

I groaned and searched for a topic that had fewer opportunities for the cat puns to come up. Finally I found a topic, "What's your favourite fictional superhero/villan?" 

"Oh that's easy," he said casually, "Catwoman." 

"Really? I guess that's pretty obvious, well I guess I like Superman. I know that's really lame but he's pretty cool." I stated.

We continued talking about random topics that had almost no chance of revealing our identities. But I decided it was getting late and thought that we had shared enough of our favourite items to each other so I decided to get home. 

"Look Chat, it's been fun talking to you but I really have to go home and get to sleep, I have school in the morning." 

"Oh yeah, meow too, I'll see you later," he said sadly. I jumped off the tower and swung myself towards home.

When I got near home, I scanned the area to make sure no one saw me and slipped into my room quietly. I detransformed and Tikki appeared. 

"I'll see you in the morning Tikki, sleep well," I said to her. 

"Sleep well Marinette," she said. 

Tikki flew over and kissed my cheek, then zipped away towards the small bed I had fashioned from an old glove and some cotton.

After a few minutes I fell asleep, I usually liked dreaming because it was pleasant and I had recently developed the skill to easily have lucid dreams. The dreams must have had something to do with the fact that I'm Ladybug and the luck that came with the identity. Anyways, I was thankful for it.

Tonight, for some reason, was different though. I was unable to control my actions and was forced to let the dream play out on its own. Adrien appeared and I calmed down, he was almost always in my best dreams and I was sure this one was going to be great. I was right, Adrien began to kiss me and it was glorious until we separated and I looked to my right. Chat was there and tears were rolling down his face, I reached out to comfort him and realized that I was wearing my Ladybug suit. Chat yelled something, but I was unable to quite make it out but I could tell it was not good. Chat then turned and ran, I followed him and suddenly we were at the Eiffel tower again. Chat turned and pointed at me and yelled again, I still couldn't hear anything. Then he turned and stood up on the railing, his eyes puffy and faded. Chat Noir waved one last goodbye and jumped. I reached to my side to grab my yoyo and catch him, but it wasn't there. I was Marinette again, and dream logic had screwed with me. I then ran to the edge and looked over, I saw Chat on the ground looking back up at me.

But this time his eyes were glassy and lifeless, the beautiful emerald-green they had once been now looked like a mucky pond. I collapsed to the iron ground and cried. And cried and cried and cried, for what seemed like hours.

Sorry these chapters are a little bit short.

But they should be packed with great stuff I hope.
