Wings and Chains

Thoughts always occur to us
Our imagination goes wild
Never a moment it goes mild
Then one day I thought because

I imagined that we have wings
Wings to fly and do sorts of things
We would be like the birds
Touching the horizon

The never-ending feeling of freedom in flight
Makes me a good night
Flying over obstacles
If this were to truly happen, it would be a miracle

But some people want to weigh others down
Stealing their smile, replaced with a frown
This already happens in our age
Cruelty, hate, war and rage
Freedom seems to be afar
Lives broken into shards

But there are always those with you
Whom you are also with too
They bring the keys to the chains of pain
And you feel flight once again

Even clipped or broken wings
Will soon heal and with it happiness they bring
Once you are in the sky
You will once again feel alive

We fly and fall many a time
But when we get back up we shine
A ray of hope shines down
Turning our frown upside down
