Chapter 2

Patty

The next classes went by pretty quickly and I noticed Lola was in the same classes I caught her looking at me a few times but she never looked away when I caught her and part of me didn't want her to. "Yes lunch time" said Duke happily making me chuckle he's a pretty cool guy. "So you gonna sit with me" he asked and I nodded my head. "Well duh you and Coraline are my only friends here" I said making him smile. We headed to the lunch room meeting up with Coraline and surprisingly Lola "hey babe" said Duke wrapping his arm around her Lola watched them with what seemed like slight happiness in her eyes. But there was hurt and guilt mixed in that made me wonder why she felt that way. "Hey Patty wanna come by for dinner with Duke, me and my family" said Coraline after we got our food and sat down. "Yea sure I'll let my mom know if you wanna write down your address" I said and she smiled. Lola did notice that I knew she was listening to everything that was said and she softly gasped when her sister asked me to dinner. I wonder if she'll let me in and let me get to know her in some way I thought as Coraline wrote down the address and I texted my mom receiving one saying it was fine but she wanted me home first. The rest of lunch went by quickly and Coraline told me to be over by 6 and we all went our separate ways Lola had left before lunch was over. The rest of the day went but pretty quickly and everyone rushed to their lockers once school was over. By the time I got to mine I seen a note taped to it. I looked around to see if I could find who put it on there but there wasn't anyone paying attention that I could tell so I set my things down to read it.

What are you coming over to make fun of the freaky mute in her home? New kid leave me alone

I looked up and to the left to where Lolas locker was to see her slightly glaring at me before making my way over. "First off I don't think your freaky I think something tragic happened to you to make you shut down. Second I'm coming over because your sister invited me to have dinner with her, Duke and your parents if you would like to join us I'm sure your family would love that" I said and walked away to grab my things and leave the school to go home. I headed home since we didn't live far from the school it only took about 10 mins to walk home. "Mom I'm home" I said walking through the door she came into the living room from the kitchen. "Hi sweetie. Um do you know your friends last name" she asked curiously. "Um Hanning I think why" I said and she smiled "your friends mother invited us for dinner so we would have been going there anyway" she said and I chuckled. "Well Coraline told me to be there by 6 so I'm gonna go shower and get changed" I said kissing her cheek and going upstairs.

Lola

I left a note on Pattys locker asking why he was even coming over to just make fun of the freaky mute. When he seen it he marched over to me and basically told me off no one has spoken to me that way in a long time. I dont know why but when he walked into class this morning I felt kind of drawn to him. No one has ever made me feel that way when he looked at me I got butterflies and it scared me. I didn't want to feel anything for anyone but seeing him was making me feel something. I just shrugged the feeling off and headed home Coraline got a ride with Duke. They started dating shortly after I shut everyone out at first they were just friends helping each other through the pain I was putting them through but I could see it in Dukes eyes when he looked at my sister he had fallen hard for her and she for him. I was happy for them but I missed my sister and my best friend. "Lola we have company coming over tonight please come down and join us for dinner" said my mom when I walked through the door. I just looked down sadly and headed up stairs not sure if I would or not I heard her sigh in defeat and a tear rolled down my cheek. Once I got to my room I locked the door and decided to change clothes just in case I went down for dinner I put on my long sleeve Sleeping With Sirens shirt and just kept on the same black skinnies. I then put on some bracelets and brushed out my long straight black hair. I decided to grab my laptop and listen to music while I waited to see who all showed up if it was a ton of people I wouldn't be going down if it was just a few I'd go down.
