Almost every high school has some form of popular kids, and I wasn't one of them, and neither were my best friends. Well for the exception of Leelee but we'll get to her later.
We didn't go out very often and when we did it would just be to the movies or to each others houses. Our 'clique' just preferred to keep to ourselves, again, for the exception of Leelee.
There's three of us me, Leelee, and Jamie. We met when we were in first grade and have been inseparable since then.
The cool part about our group is that all three of us are completely different from each other, with one similarity; Arts. We go to Lake Forest Magnet High School, which is an arts school. My dream is to get my music out there, which I've been too afraid to do. Which I'll explain later. Leelee is into painting and drawing; something I could never do. And Jamie the oldest of the group, is SICK at playing the cello but she doesn't want to admit that. On top of that she can take photos like no other.
None of us have even thought about trying to be popular. Which is why me ending up with a random invitation from one of the most popular guys in my school was so weird.

"Me and Micheal broke up again, and this time for real. I'm over it" Leelee said, as she met me at my last class period.
"Isn't this the fourth time? And you said exactly that all four times." I rolled my eyes as I finished my sentence. Honestly Leelee is my best friend but this is getting old. They'd been going out since sophomore year and hadn't really had problems then, but something changed when we became juniors. Oh and Micheal is one of the typical football stars of the school.
Leelee pouted as we approached my locker.

"Well this time I'm serious Lana."
I rolled my eyes once again and put in my locker combination. As soon I opened the loud crooked door to the locker; a small note card flew out, made a small circle in the air, and landed on the floor. When it hit the floor Leelee dived at the floor to grab it. She picked it up and silently read to herself. The more she read the more confused she looked.
After a few seconds I got impatient and snatched the card out her hand causing Leelee to make a small irritated grunt. I read the card quickly.

I had never been more confused in my entire life. Why was I of all people getting invitations from a guy that I'd never talked to.
I knew Micheal in middle school and never talked to him. Believe it or not, in middle school he was the biggest nerd ever. He never got below a 90 on anything, but then he got to high school. I believe he into Lake Forest for his guitar talents. Which, by the way is the only reason Leelee likes him, and because he's the football star.

"Why do you guys look like that?" Jamie asked snapping me out my thought. Jamie always came last since her last period was always on the third floor.
I gave the notecard to Jamie and waiting while she read it.
She shrugged.
"So what's the problem? So what? You got invited big deal." she rolled her eyes and popped her gum.

I gave her a very annoyed look. "What do you mean 'so what'?. People don't get invitations to these parties! Like ever."

"Ever." added Leelee

"He's your boyfriend why don't you go ask him?" Jamie turned to Leelee as she said this.

"Yeah well that would actually be a good idea if we were actually together..." she trailed off.

"AGAIN?" yelped Jamie. "What is it with you guys? Honestly! Ya'll are acting like middle schoolers!" I could tell this was going to turn into another argument. I don't know what's been going on between these two but that's all they do is fight lately.

Leelee opened her mouth to argue back but I quickly interrupted.
"Can we not do this today? Or ever? We need to figure what this means."
"Its probably not even that big of a deal." Ugh I tell Leelee was in her own little world when she said that. I knew because whenever she's distracted she starts playing with her hair, which is exactly what she was doing.
"Yeah exactly November 1st is next week, all three of us can go to the party and check it out." Finally, someone who was actually paying attention.

"No way I'm going to his house. That's social suicide. No thanks." Leelee added

"Oh come on please? Your our best friend. We do everything together." I said starting to get annoyed.

"Fine!" Leelee grunted while rolling her eyes. I could tell she secretly wanted to go anyways.

The next week went by relatively fast and before I knew it, it was Friday. The day before the party.

In my gut I had a really bad feeling, but I quickly ignored it and moved on.
