Little Did She Know

"I am such an idiot" Regina cried silently into her hands as she flopped herself onto the bed. It had been several hours since their fight and no sight of Emma. It was fight that was worse than any that the two women have ever had. One that she was positive ended everything they once had. She loved Emma and she still does and knows for a fact that she always will.  She was at war with her mind even though her heart was with Emma. 

Then there was Ingrid, a girl that she took interest in while she was studying back in college.  She was in town for the night and Regina agreed to meet her for dinner at Granny's.  Everything was going as planned until she came face to face with her and suddenly, the uninvited past feelings came creeping up on Regina as the two made their way into the restaurant and took their seats. 

Home alone, Emma grew hungry.  She wasn't the one who was well in the kitchen that's for sure.  She looked around and nothing was very appealing to her appetite.  "Granny's it is" she mumbled to herself as she put her jacket on and head out the door.  Emma trusted Regina when it came to going out on her own with another woman or really anyone in general.  She was confident in their love and trust for each other.  Besides, she was just a friend. 

It wasn't until Emma caught Regina with the girl she claimed to have gone to school with and was just "catching up on lost time."  Something seemed different the blonde thought to herself as she walked up to the front.  She peered into the diner to see that there weren't many people there besides...regina She mouthed.  Emma was hesitant about going in. she watched the scene that was before her eyes as Regina held the other woman's hand lightly in hers making small circles on the back which is what she would do to calm emma down and that alone sunk her heart to the pit of her stomach.

Emma studied the other woman who was also blonde. She was tall, she could tell by how bent her knees were under the table.  Not to mention she was just as slender as Regina.  Emma felt herself suddenly feel her confidence drop.  Not to mention those crystal blue eyes. Far prettier than her own. Her hair wasn't as long as Emma's but it looked stunning tied into a loose side ponytail. They looked to be chatting and giggling as Regina continued to trace those small circles on the back of her hand.

Emma couldn't bare another second of the scene that was before her eyes. She opened the door to the diner and made her way to the counter to order her food. She could care less about regina seeing her at this point because it seemed to be quite obvious that regina didn't care about anything. It was as if emma was invisible to the brunette that she called her girlfriend because she didn't even bother to take her eyes off of Ingrid. 

The two had finished their dinner and paid for the bill shortly after emma placed her order of grilled cheese and hot chocolate with whipped cream and cinnamon to go.  Emma watched
as they made their way outside without a care in the world, emma stood at the pick up side of the counter utterly stunned. She was so angry and upset but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't cry. The blonde has been left and rejected more times than she could count throughout her life but this one hurt the most. She wanted to run she wanted to get out of there as fast as she could.  Order, grab it, then go back home.  The thing was, Emma couldn't bring herself to leave.  Besides her only other option was to go back to Regina's and she sure as hell wasn't going there.

Ruby set Emma's to go bag and hot chocolate on the counter and she took them as she walked out of the diner.  She truly felt as if she just hit rock bottom.  Little did she know that beyond those doors was something further and far worse than rock bottom.
