My breath was shaky as Piper and I trotted into the ring. We had finally made it to the Junior Fayland Championships after years of hard work and it would be over in a matter of minutes. Her head bobbed and I felt her mouth on my reins, I took a deep breath and cantered her in a circle spotting out our first jump. Then the buzzer came and the noise of the busy stadium faded out in my ears and the only thing on my mind was Piper and the jump ahead. Her strong hooves struck the ground as she gained speed towards the first fence that resembled a bumblebee. I felt her strong hind legs push off the ground and that beautiful soaring feeling before we landed back on the ground. The whole course was 3'3-3'6 and Piper was feeling hot underneath me, her feet seemed to stay off the ground for a couple seconds before landing back down. Her legs flung over the 3'3 oxer with ease and she threw a buck around the tight rollback to a line of three. She nailed the first and bounced to the next. 1, 2, 3 and! Her legs kicked out with style over the massive triple bar and I giggled with excitement and pride. We went for the next fence, a rainbow looking fence with an unnecessary amount of decorations. The mare flared her nostrils and her hind legs drifted out attempting to turn off, I straightened her determined to make the fence. We were a stride away now and I knew we could do this. Suddenly she planted her feet in the ground and her hind end sat back, the next few seconds went so slow and yet so fast. I began to slide over her neck but my foot was stuck, stuck on what? My stirrup! It dug against my ankle sending sharp pains, I seemed so close to the jump rail then suddenly Piper began to fall onto her side trapping my leg underneath. People ran over startling Piper as she jumped up from the ground, my foot finally gave and she ran away from me without thinking twice. I curled up in a ball and started sobbing, I heard someone say not to move and other voices tried to ask me questions but I couldn't find my voice. The pain caught up to me and my cries turned to shrieks. My head pounded like someone was playing a marching band and my whole body ached. I didn't remember anything after that.
