He was trying so hard, fighting himself. He did not want this other side of him -that may I add, he didn't know existed- that's awfully emotionless and rude to take over. He tried. For her, he tried.
..
"I still do not get what you want from me," Andrew stated looking at his father dead in the eyes, who was sitting directly on the sofa in front of him.
It has been a long dreadful hour since Connor showed up at the door of his son's apartment and he has been going in circles, back and forth about something, not telling him exactly what he wants or what's the purpose of the surprise visit.
As selfish as Connor can be, he still anticipated with great apprehension and fear what he had to force his son to do.
Taking a deep breath he started, "Andrew before I travelled, Evan offered me a deal an-"
"I'M HOME! Did you miss the incredible- oh, hi?" Lilly joked but stopped mid-sentence when she noticed the unfamiliar looking man.
"Uh sorry for that," she said referring to her intro as her cheeks flushed. "I didn't know we had a guest."
Connor looked her up and down cocking an eyebrow, "May I know who is she?" He asked as he turned to look at Andrew.
"My girlfriend." he replied confidently.
That literally made his father's eyes pop out of their sockets.
Saying he was mad was an understatement.
"What do you mean 'girlfriend'! How can you not tell me about something like that!" he exclaimed.
Andrew scoffed. "Like you care."
Connor stood up sighing heavily and rubbing his face. A few second passed and the tension only grew even more unbearable.
Lilly was awkwardly standing still, suddenly interested in the floor.
"Fine," Connor muttered. "Jessy-" he stopped and looked at Lilly, "-Andrew's sister if you do not know, will be having dinner with me today. I expect you two to come."
With that, he strolled quite weirdly to the door but before leaving he said (more like demanded), "Be there by 7."
..
It was almost 7 as Lilly and Andy both rushed to the front door with their heads close together, underneath an umbrella. Andrew didn't bother to change into clothing which was more presentable.
They stood at the front door and he wasn't smiling anymore. He held a firm face trying to control himself and keep the anger he had hiden.
Lilly looked over to Andy, and waited a second for him to knock. But he stood there so she went ahead and lightly tapped the glass pane attached onto the door.
A couple of minutes later they all sat around a large square table. For the first couple of minutes, they all held a "pin-drop-silence" which was later broken by Conner.
"So you're his new girl ?" He grimly asked.
Lilly cheerfully said, "I guess so..." Trying to lighten up the ambience of the room.
Jessy, the girl opposite of where Lilly was sitting, arrogantly added, "She'll be gone in a month."
That left Lilly frowning, and Andrew fuming with her words. Controlling all emotions, everyone proceeded with the depressing dinner.
The evening took a turn for the worse later...
After a diabolical evening towards Lilly and Andy, and many cheap comments coming from Conner, mostly aimed towards Lilly, Jessy stepped up.
She rested her hands onto the rail of the table, and pushed her seat away. Lifted the napkin off her lap, and stood upright smirking.
"I would like to talk to you in the balcony." She said coldheartedly.
Lilly politely anticipated the approval of Andy, since she was his sister, but Conner continued, "Yea you girls go chat, I need to have a talk with Andrew."
And with that Andy turned to listen to his father, and Lilly gradually walked to the balcony to listen to whatever Jessy had to say.
..
Lilly's P.O.V
"Jessy?"
"Urgh... you know I can't stand you, right? Then how about you do me a favour and leave me alone?" she said sassily.
Is she for real? She's the one who wanted to talk!
Or is her definition of "talking" snarly insulting me then literally dragging me back to the dinning room which was empty by now.
She's getting on my nerves. Breath Lilly breath.
I'll try and get ger to open up. Yup, that's a great idea.
What should I talk about though? Hmmm...
"You know, Andrew told me about the weed thing... do you want to talk abou-"
"Gosh, can't you just shut up!" she shouted.
"It's languishing how if you were twice as smart, you would still be stupid," I responded coldly.
She sent me a death glare and said through gritted teeth. "What was that for?"
I simply smiled at her. "You, my dear, are so self-centered and shallow."
She stared at me her eyes wide, surprised by my brutal honesty.
"You don't care about your father or brother, who I am very sure are so worried about you."
"What does my brother see in you?" She said with disgust. "Oh wait, he's blind."
What the hell girl, this is not middle school. Should I be offended? God, pathetic.
"And sweetcheeks, stop being such a gold-digger okay? It's pretty obvious no one would look at your face."
What the hell man.
Lilly, she's a kid. Kids talk nonsense.
"Last thing, just because you know how to talk doesn't mean you're smart."
"Why am I wasting my time?" I uttered under my breath but it was loud enough for her to hear it.
"The only-"
"OH SHUT UP NOW!" I snapped.
Although I saw her flinch, I did not care. She was irritating me!
"You!" I pointed my finger accusingly to her, "Are piteous." I spat.
"Seriously, I pity you. You act like a rebel and get into trouble just because you want the attention you never had." By now my voice became gradually softer. "I know your family isn't stable. I know it hurts. I am fully aware that you're in pain but girl, this is not right!"
Jessy's eyes were a bit glossy, but I knew she won't give up. "I never gave you a reason to hate me. You're just creating your own little drama out of pure insecurity."
"MY insecurities? Are you sure you aren't talking to yourself?"
"What is going on in here?" Mr Stephens came from the room Andrew and him were in. And boy, he looked agitated.
Soon enough Andy appeared too, and guess what? He looked ready to murder someone.
Why is this day so shitty?
I was snapped back to reality when all of a sudden Jessy started crying.
"What did you do?" her father shouted at me. His deep voice was so bitter it made me shiver.
In a matter of seconds, I was being dragged outside of the house by Andrew who looked enraged it scared me.
Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too.
