Another day of the hell hole called school. I had hitched a ride with my boyfriend Liam Johnson. We just started dating about two months ago. He'd been my friend since we were small and unlike the rest of my "old" friends he wasn't a power crazed maniac. Well him and Ryder Cruz, we promised that we had each other's back no matter what. You might be wondering what I mean by this. And I'll explain. Our school isn't a normal school. Sure the teachers teach us. And the administration makes the rules. But then you have us; The royals. We're the ones who actually run the school. We're the ones who make the cliques. We're the ones who decide if we want to follow the administrative rules or not. If not, well we step in and make our own rules. We can also disband groups if we want. Not to mention that the school can't tell us we can't when we are the ROYALS of the school. We are who we are not because of our family status but because we were chosen from the previous royals. But back to the present.
There was a comfortable silence in Liam's car. It gave me time to think. Think about what this year was going to be like. This was going to be my junior year in Winter Beach Academy. Not that I'm excited or anything. If anything I'm dreading school. What with the whole recruiting, the responsibility, the drama. It's just so much work. But even though I get stressed out, I know what I signed up for.
After all Samuel Garcia was the one who trained me to be queen. And I won't let him down I'll show him that he left his kingdom in very capable hands, after all he's visiting in a few months. Along with all the other ex-Kings and Queens of the school. Like they do every year.
Liam finally broke the silence with a clear of his throat. Breaking me from my train of thought.
Fixing my eyes on him I could tell why many girls liked him and why he had had many confessions. He had eyes that rivaled the bluest of skies. Hair the color of milk chocolate. Not to mention his sun kissed skin, perfect teeth, medium calloused hands that held a person gently. A lean tall body with chocolate abs. His biceps ripples every time he gave gentle strokes of his brush onto the canvas. So I mean I could see why girls liked him.
However every confession led to a broken heart and rivers of tears. I once told him to move to the desert and break hearts over there. That way they wouldn't have droughts. But he just laughed. Even the prettiest of girls had been rejected.
He cleared his throat again. That's when I snapped out of my trance.
"Ready to start, recruiting?" He asked with his rich baritone voice.
"Don't remind me!" I whined. " I don't want to recruit! It's too much work. And if I don't recruit the right people than it comes out with them being conceited and selfish, or even worse double agents from Raquel or Lola. Do you remember the time Simon hacked into the cameras of our clubs?"
Just saying his name was all it took for him to go berserk. Luckily that didn't happen since he was driving. With him being my over protective boyfriend. I remember making the mistake of telling him I didn't eat breakfast once. And let's just saying didn't end so well.
However I immediately saw the change it caused him when I said Simon's name. The clench of both his jaw and his hands. The deep hatred he had for him shown on his face. In all honesty it terrified me.
I timidly reached over and gently grabbed hold of his hand. I immediately felt him relax under the touch.
A long silence followed. I wanted to tell him that I was alright and that this year was going to be different, and that we could make it like we always did. But I couldn't tell him anything and so we set back to a comfortable silence with his hand in mine. After all what kind of girlfriend what I be if I wasn't supporting him when he was weak.
