" Amina your not like other little girls, okay honey. You can do things that other children cant and if they found out they may not react well." Sharon said looking at her 5 yr old daughter who was stroking a lion cub through the feeding bars at the city zoo. Being an only mother in a new city often meant that Sharon had to take Amina with her to work on the weekends. It was hard trying to work with Amina around because she loved animals almost too much. You would think her mom being a veterinarian would solidify her love for nature. That wasn't what worried Sharon." I'm sorry mommy he was sad so I thought that if I petted him it would make him feel better." Amina said looking up at her mother with her deep set brown eyes. "Yes but remember what happened at mommy's old job when you were playing with one of the animals" Amina dropped her hand from the cub and looked at the ground. The cub looked sad immediately and looked up at Amina with pleading eyes. "We had to move" she said in a tiny voice still looking at the ground. "I'm sorry honey, I know that they wont hurt you but other people don't. So your going to have to keep your distance for now." The last time I took Amina to work with me we lived in Arizona and she was playing with the tigers, she seems too love big cats, but the zoo director came into the vet building. Amina had been communicating with animals way before she was communicating with humans. But the director had not known that putting both tigers into a state of panic. They were trying to protect her but it only made things worse. Thus the reason why we move to San Diego. Since I have had Amina we've had to move around more that normal. Keeping her powers away from the public eye and her away from her father, who means her no good. But these are the precaution that you have to take when your daughter is a witch.
