The Life Monitor hummed in its awake.
The head sat in her chair, her fingers raping against the table.
The technician worked frantically at his d-comm, his fingers flying over the screen, trying to keep up with the Life Monitor.
The note taker stood in the corner, her eyes flicking every once ans a while at the Monitor, her pen at ready.
The Monitor whirred to life, its dim fluorescent lights making the dark room seem flavescent.
The head smiled, leaning back into the chair.
The technician sighed in relief.
The note taker burst out in energy, pouring everything onto the paper.
The head rose from her seat and took her first steps towards the machine that would soon control man. She brushed the tips of her fingers across its face slowly, then slammed her fist down onto the red button.
In the city, everything stopped. Everything froze, even time since it seemed like it. People stopped in mid walk, cars stopped in mid turn, planes stopped in mid take off, everything froze, on land, air, and sea.
The head smiled that little smile of hers. She set her finger on the tiny green button, pushed it lightly, and let the Monitor begin its work.
Suddenly the outside world went back into movement, everyone bustled around, cars sped from one street to another, planes took off and landed. But the usual chaos? No. Everything was silent, everyone was smiling, everything was.....
Perfect. As it should be.
