-Hanamura, Japan-

I glanced around. It was dark, just past midnight. They couldn't catch me; if they did, I was dead. I held my breath as I turned around. I hadn't heard the footsteps of the people behind me.

They really were very well trained ninjas.

I stifled a yelp as I took off, using my powerful legs to jump across a gap in between two buildings. I gripped onto the roof tiles of a floor above me, pulling myself up so that I was now running up the tiles of that floor. The ninjas below followed, their footsteps louder now because they had been spotted.

There were around five of them, I hadn't really gotten a good amount of time to stop and count them.

I grunted as I jumped up and grabbed another tile on the roof above me. The tile I had grabbed in my right hand slipped and I fell onto the roof below me with a loud crack. I slid down the polished tiles toward the edge of the roof I was on.

I used my feet to atop myself from falling. The ninjas had caught up to me. One dove toward me and I held my breath as I moved my foot so that I slid down. I heard him land with a crash as I grabbed the edge of the tiles I was about to fall off of and swung myself onto the roof below, landing silently. I was extremely impressed with myself.

I sprinted toward another building and jumped a gap to land on it. I stayed low as the ninjas ran in the direction they had assumed I had gone, which was completely incorrect.

This type of thing happened a lot to the Shimada clan and its members who wandered outside during the night.

I exhaled and closed my eyes, breathing in through my mouth and out through my nose. I felt that way helped me circulate air quicker and quieter. I opened my eyes and gasped. I'd better tell Master about this. He'd have to heighten defenses.

I nodded in agreement to myself and jumped onto the conrete paved pathway below me. I walked to my room. It had an uncomfortable bed in it that was only a mattress set on the floor. I groaned and laid down in it. I closed my eyes. It took me about 20 minutes, but I finally fell asleep.

-Next morning-

I awoke at the crack of dawn as another servant came into my room. Here, the servants called each other by name. When addressed by the higher placed members of the Shimada clan, though, they were addressed as peasant or servant or you. I had grown used to this.

"Y/N," the servant shook your shoulder, "it is time for you to awaken. You have two minutes to be up and ready."

I opened my eyes immediately and forced my tired self to stand up. "Thank you for waking me up, Jay," I replied.

Jay nodded his head. "No problem. If you need me for anything else, I'll be doing the Master's laundry. Probably the entire day," he groaned and walked back outside. He clased the door behind him.

I closed my eyes for what felt like a few seconds and stumbled backwards, almost falling asleep while standing. I growled to myself. This is what gets you in trouble. Do not do this, Y/N, you sternly scolded yourself as you sat back in bed and closed your eyes. Your brain continued to yell at you as you drifted back into sleep. Jumping and running from hostile ninjas was extremely tiring.

"Y/N!" I heard a whisper as I opened my eyes again. I looked up to see Jay. I groaned.

"Hmm?" I asked.

"Why are you asleep again? Get up bef-" he was cut off by a loud voice.

"Y/N!" an angry voice called from outside.

I immediately sat up and my senses hightened, eyes wide. Jay yelped and ran outside. I didn't blame him. I wouldn't want to get caught with a late servant either.

I rubbed my eyes and stood up. I looked around for an excuse to have ben late. I finally decided on something. I ran into the small closet that was given to me as a bathroom. I was lucky. Most servants only had buckets.

My door was slid open aggressively. I swallowed my fear and sat down on the bucket. "Uhm, yes?" I asked.

"Y/N, what are you doing?" the voice asked. It was probably Master Jinn, judging by his tone and voice.

I gulped. "Uh- I- I'm on my ladies days," I lied. "Cramps are absolutely terrible right now. My apologies Master, I'll be out as soon as I can."

I heard a groan through the door. "Fine, hurry up."

I waited until I couldn't hear footsteps anymore. I stood up and walked outside. That was too close.

I jogged to the kitchen. I believed I was on cooking duties today. As I entered, I checked the schedule that was hung next to the door. Yep, there my name was, right underneath the Wednesday column. I grabbed a hair net and washed my hands, getting to work.

"Ah, there you are, Y/N," I heard a voice say as I turned from drying my hands. It was one of the friendliest old woman I had ever met, Shimoa. "You have a request from the Master's boys today."

"Hello, Shimoa. How has your day been so far?" I asked as I started to prep two bowls, expecting what they wanted.

"It has been fairly well. How about you?"

"I could be better," I groaned. Before that topic dragged on, I asked, "What do the boys want today?"

"Miso ramen. The usual," she replied.

I nodded. I began to work on the bowls. Everything went fairly well, so I was able to prep everything correctly. I soon placed the two bowls on a tray and started to carry them out to the Master's dining room.

It was a large, mainly wood room with a long table in its center. Nothing else was in the room besides some cabinets. I walked through the double doors and rushed the soups over to the two.

"My apologies, Master and young Masters," I practically whispered I was so nervous. "I did not intend on being this late today."

Master looked at me as I placed the bowls of nicely arranged soup in front of his children. "You have caught me in a good mood, Y/N," my stomach jumped as he called me by my actual name and not just saying girl, "so you are forgiven. Do not think this is going to be forgiven every time."

"Of course, Master," I replied as I flashed glances towards his two sons as they began to eat the ramen I had prepared.

I slightly cocked my head as I noticed that the youngest son, Genji, had dyed his hair green. I chuckled quietly as I backed up and stood against the wall, holding the tray still. He looked absolutely ridiculous. I breathed in and out with my eyes closed for a moment. I would not laugh at one of my Masters. It was too disrespectful towards someone so much higher than I.

Genji looked toward me. I had spaced out while staring at him and thinking. He grinned at me. I snapped back into reality at this and blinked. I felt my cheeks begin to burn. I must have looked so stupid, staring at him like I just was. I turned my face away, earning a chortle from Genji.

I closed my eyes and breathed. I shouldn't have done that. What if he tells his father? I'd be dead. I knew the possiblity was slim, but if he did, I knew that I'd probably get punished.

I looked back over at them to see that Genji had completely disregarded the situation. I exhaled in relief and hurriedly collected their bowls after they had finished, hurrying back to the kitchen to clean the bowls.
