Neville Longbottom liked to think of himself as an absolute magnet for disaster. Since the day he stepped over the threshold into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, nearly everything had gone wrong for him. Sure, he excelled immensely at Herbology, but that was honestly about it. From fainting due to baby Mandrakes to getting ridiculed by Slytherins left and right, Neville was convinced that his existence at Hogwarts was a pretty sad one.
But, every once in a blue moon, things went right for Neville.
Which is exactly why, on the first of September of 1995, Evelyn Bishop came marching into his compartment on the train, professing her absolute lack of skills in Herbology and her vivid desire to pass her Herbology O.W.L., with his help of course.
(Granted, everything went wrong once again when he learned the details of her non-Herbology related issues, but Neville was going to take that first part as a win.)
