Just four minutes into my posting at Rajauri, and i am feeling the chilling breeze passing through me leaving my bones shivering like hell. Also known as the Vale of Lakes, Rajauri is a place where one would like to retire during summer. Finally I reached my camp, covered under the sheds of hills with a blanket of thick white snow. As I entered into my Ward 23-A, the scene was pretty much as expected.
While I stood at the door of my room, I quickly looked upon the setup. A small crooked table beside a naked window, one forcefully ridden fan, two beds, a pillow and that's it. One of the most common thing in places such as Rajauri is that howsoever sophisticated your phone is, it's of no use. Perhaps, the network cables are still in search of these towns. Fourty-eight hours of travelling just took the shit out of me and merely after a minute or two, I fell asleep.
I heard a voice, though faintly.
Kunal was whispering "Dude, wake up, he's coming. Umm....he is really pointing it at you".
Still unaware of what he actually meant I decided to continue my sleep when suddenly something hit my forehead. As I raised my head, a gigantic body stood infront of me. There he was, Mr.Das, right in front of me with his ferocious look wearing his only untorn khakhi trousers and a pale white shirt. His eyes totally explained the next few minutes of shit I am gonna face.
"So Mr. Samar, I hope enjoyed your nap. Since you didn't attend my lecture interesting enough for you, would you please like to highlight the key features of an IC Engine?" He said.
This was the most common way used by him for those who didn't give a crap to whatever he said.
"Umm..." I mumbled.
"And that's the amount of knowledge you have, summed up in three letters. Get out".
The opportunity to leave a class of Mr. Das is something one is always wishing. After an hour or so, the bell rang and the whole class rushed out of the door as if to get rid of the worms injected by him in their head.
"Seriously? Again you were sleeping. What's wrong with you?" Neeti said.
One can't seem to put his thoughts into words when he see Neeti. Not much tall; reddish curls of hair crawling over her forehead; deep with humor; her eyes were like the ocean, magnificent and flecked with every shade of blue and a smile worth dying for.
Apart from Neeti, Kunal and Tarun were the other two with whom I used to hang around.
"Does he really teach?" Tarun said.
"His voice sometimes makes me remember how my grandma used to sing lullables to me during my childhood", Kunal added.
Strolling down for another minute or so we entered our cafeteria of our college.
"Who's turn?"Neeti asked.
"Definitely not mine, I guess Tarun today." I said.
We had this feeding circle sort of thing in which everyday one shithead feeds the other three.
"Okay, quickly say what you want ?, I've just got fifty bucks" Tarun replied.
"Shit! will you ever spend a penny from your pocket" Kunal said.
I was least interested in what they spoke. Meanwhile, right across the hall I saw someone.
"Hey look over there, isn't he the newly admitted guy?" I asked.
"Yeah, the retard."Neeti replied.
"Retard?"
"Yesterday he was being called by the seniors, rumours are there that he actually kicked one of them."
