"It's not fair; I wish my eyes were as blue as yours," Amanda said to her best friend Ellie, as she watched her apply mascara in the bathroom mirror.

"Your eyes are beautiful too," Ellie said, her reflection smiling back at her friend.

Amanda went back to sitting on the edge of the bathtub, reading a magazine when Ellie suddenly let out an ear-piercing scream, "Amanda?Where are you? I can't see!" Her shrill voice echoed around the bathroom.

"What's the matter, now?" Amanda asked, sure that her friend had probably poked herself in the eye with her mascara wand, again. And then she looked at Ellie; she stared into the black holes where Ellie's eyes had once been, before looking in the mirror and seeing Ellie's blue eyes staring back at her.

It was then that Amanda truly understood the phrase, be careful what you wish for.
