Life With Fangs - Going down memory lane.

I woke up at the sound of my alarm clock blaring, “Wake up, Kara! Wake up!” in an animated tone, repeatedly. It was a thanksgiving gift from my best friend, Elizabeth Brooke, who strongly believes I need a very loud alarm clock in my life.

Feeling a little less dutiful, I stared at the white ceiling with plastic glow-in-the-dark stars and moons that my father had put in my old room when I was five. Now I had reposted it, thinking it would remind me of the happy memories with my late parents, but it only reminded me of the pain, the hurt that was put upon me on their death. The pain of remembering the happy memories, that can never go back and be done again.

“Ahh!” I cried as streak of pain went through my head. When it stopped, pictures in my vision went flashing.  Scenes that deep inside myself, I knew they happened. But there were still holes; missing events; unknown chapters that had constructed unanswered questions in my head.

A guy; a guy with no face in my memories. I have to find him. But where am I going to start looking?

I’ve decided to go to school, thinking I should start searching for answers there. I went with my head still swirling with unknown scenes and short-span headaches with them. Chapters of my memories have been coming back in pieces. I spent the whole way to school putting the puzzles in places, trying to connect the dots.

When I reached the grounds of the school, different scents of the same kind lingered at my nose, alluring my stomach. I could feel my eyes tightening as my vision obscures.

“Kara! You’re fine, thank God!” I felt a pair of arms went clinging around my neck. Judging by the voice and the preppy smell of her perfume, it tells me it was Elizabeth who was trying to suffocate me with her killer arms.

“Why didn’t you tell me you had Leukemia? What do you take me for?” She asked when she pulled out, but then pulling me again into another tighter one. “God...”

My eyes tightened even more. That same mixed tempting smell was overpowering Elizabeth's strong perfume. I wanted to bite her neck and drain her off of blood.

           I closed my eyes shut.

What the hell is happening with you, Kara! Listen to yourself! Why would you want to kill your best friend? Stop it, stop it, stop it!

The tight grip around my eyes slowly loosened up. When I opened them, an oddly familiar guy standing right at the entrance of the Science building was caught in my peripheral vision.

He wasn’t a student here, nor a teacher. I haven’t seen him before but I have. But the weight of his stare was so heavy it almost seemed like he was looking at me like he had to look out for me; like my whole life was depending on him. Almost.

Elizabeth pulled out. “From now on, you are going to tell me everything you do and everything that happens to you every single day. Understood?”

I looked at her without interest; all had shifted to the strange guy. “Sure.”

“Your doctor called my house and explained how you miraculously got away from Leukemia...”

She blabbered continuously about that, but my gaze was fixed at the strange guy, who smiled before entering the Science Building.

“Elizabeth, I have to go. I’ll catch you later.” I said.
