"I bet I can treat you even better."
She just laughed and playfully rolled her eyes but I was as serious as a heart attack.
"How many times are we gonna talk about this, Chresanto?"
"As long as it takes for you to get rid of that nigga and come over here."
She smirked. "Won't be anytime soon."
"C'mon, Bri. I know you still have feelings for me."
"Nope," she said, shaking her head. "Every part of me belongs to Christopher."
I kissed my teeth and rolled my eyes. "I still love you though, more than a friend."
"Chresanto, why don't you go be in a relationship with Jamie instead of bothering me? I don't want you."
"To hell with Jamie. The only person I want to be in a relationship with is you."
Brielle cracked a smile. "Chresanto, get out of here."
I smirked. "I see you smiling, boo. Don't worry, one day you'll be mine again."
"Don't count on that."
"I'm pretty sure you will. I wish you would just stop denying everything."
"I'm denying everything because I know it's nots going to happen. Me and Christopher are at a good place in our relationship and he's nothing going anywhere anytime soon, hopefully."
"Not if I have anything to do with it."
"Chresanto, you can't ruin my relationship even if you tried so you can stop."
"That's what you think, Brielle. But I will make you mine."
She rolled her eyes. "Where's Lani at?"
"At home with her mother." I said, swirling my spoon in my ice cream.
She nodded her head and kept eating her ice cream. Every couple of minutes, her phone would vibrate, she would pick it up, smile, then reply back to whoever she was texting. I was guessing that it was probably Christopher, but I'm not too sure. I hope it wasn't though.
"What are you smiling at?" I asked her.
"Christopher is sending me the sweetest text messages ever. He's so cute." She said, blushing a rosy red color.
I kissed my teeth. "Yeah, whatever."
"Salty much?" She asked.
"Ain't nobody salty." I retorted.
"Then you must be jealous because he's my man and you're not."
"Man, ain't nobody jealous of Christopher. If he wasn't around then I would definitely have you."
"No you wouldn't, Chresanto. I don't want you. Please, pretty please get that through your thick skull! Whatever we had in high school, please leave it in high school."
"You're pretty fucked up, Brielle. I'm trying to express my feelings for you and you're just rejecting me like this?"
"Chresanto I'm in a relationship for Jesus sake! You have a child at home. Don't be worried about me. Be worried about continuing to being a good dad."
"I need love too, Brielle." I muttered.
"I understand that, Chres. Everyone needs to love and be loved. But I'm just not the right person."
My heart sunk to the bottom of my stomach. Damn, why is this girl making me feel some type of way when all she does is hurt me even more.
"So what does that mean for us, Brielle?" I asked.
She held my hand with both of her hands and gently caressed it. "There is no us. I want you to go find love. Maybe fix things with Jamie. Lani deserves to have a well put family together, she's the perfect child. Me and you? We can be friends but nothing more. I can't do this to Christopher and plus you have bigger priorities to worry about then me."
"I don't want to fix things with Jamie. I just want you! What do I have to do? Just tell me and I promise that I'll do it to the best of my abilities!"
"I just want you to give Lani the world. You can't do anything to win my heart anymore, Chresanto when it's already taken."
I just stared at her. How can she do this to me?
"Don't do this to me, Chresanto. Please don't." She said, stilling caressing my hand.
I grabbed my ice cream cup and my keys. "That's fine then, Brielle. But I promise you, I won't stop trying."
I drove home with a lot on my mind just wanting to go to sleep. When I opened the door, Keke and Lani were running around the house.
"Daddy, pway with me and Keke!" Lani screamed, jumping up and down besides me.
"Daddy is tired, baby girl. When I wake up I'll play all the games you want to." I replied, picking her up and kissing her forehead.
She pouted. "Okay, daddy. Don't forgwet."
"I won't, baby, I promise. Just give daddy some time to go to nap."
She smiled and kissed my cheek. "I love you, Daddy!"
"I love you too, baby."
I climbed up the stairs and noticed Jamie already sleeping. I sighed and changed into a pair of basketball shorts and climbed into the bed with her. Usually, she would wrap her arms around me or something like that but this time, she moved her body farther away.
I don't know what was her problem but at least I don't have to deal with her bullshit now.
Brielle
I feel kind of bad for treating Chresanto like that but what can I do about it? It was simply the pure truth. He expects me to get up and leave my happy relationship because he's realized what's he has done to me in the past.
I'm simple though. I'm not in love with him.
Yeah he's attractive but that's enough for my heart. Christopher has been treating me right and our relationship is better than ever. Why can't Chresanto not see that?
