"Pestilence!" "Brat!" "Get back here!" The brunette girl dodged people and carts, evading the baker. She snickered and clutched the bread closer to her. Suddenly, she swerved into an alley and hid in a large wooden box that was covered in blue paint stains.
"Where'd she go?" The girl could hear the baker walking around in confusion, having not seen her run into the trash-filled alley. She silently pumped a fist. Echo for the win!
"Echo? Whatcha doing?" A small grey kitten emerged from under a bunch-up blanket and sat next to her.
"I got us some food, here have some!" Echo ripped a bit of the bread and handed it to Splash. The kitten raised a furry eyebrow, "Where'd you get it?"
"Clarity hooked me up with a buddy," Echo proudly explained. Splash nodded in understanding as she took Echo's half of the bread in her teeth, "Thath intherething. Thithn't know Cwawrity knew a bakehurr." Echo looked a bit sheepish, "She doesn't." Splash pawed at Echo's face, "OH. Well, thath ithn't really shtrange, conthidering... etherything. But you thould geth a thob."
"I'm 6 years old!" Splash swallowed the rest of the bread and rolled her eyes, "So? That's, like, 35 cat years." Echo pouted, "I'm not a cat! I'm a person, and 6 years is 6 person years! And most of the time, 6 person years is too young to get a job!"
"Yeah, well-" BANG! Splash looked around worriedly, "What was that?" It was Echo's turn to roll her eyes, "A bang, duh." There were screams everywhere and one person yelled out, "TITANS!" Titans?! What the what? Echo was wide-eyed.
"We need to go," she announced, stuffing the blanket and a few other precious objects in the valuable backpack. Splash looked up at her in horror, "The Titans... H-how? The walls are 50 meters high..." Echo grabbed Splash and started running out the alley, looking for the gate.Crud, crud, crud, where's the gate?! Oh no, Clarity! Echo looked down at Splash in horror, "What about Clarity?! She's-"
"There's no time, Echo! Run!!" The cat yowled, making Echo jump."B-but... Clarity..." "If you wanna go look for her, then gah head. But remember to put me down when you get grabbed by a Titan." Echo's eyes widened, "I think she can fend for herself." Splash smirked, "Good girl. Very good girl." The running girl frowned but continued. Suddenly, a roar made Echo jump again. Splash hissed, "It's a Titan! Employ the emergency escape tactic!"
"That's only to be used in an emergency!" Echo stared at the kitten as if she grew another head. "Echo," Splash answered in a commanding tone, "surrender the jacket. Now." Echo sighed and shrugged off the plain jacket, revealing white wings with orange streaks. Jumping up, Echo flapped hard until she stayed airborne. However, the Titan was still on their tail.
"Serpentine! Serpentine!" Splash gasped, holding onto Echo's arm for dear life. She looked at the cat in surprise, "Where do you learn that type of talk?!" Splash shook her head in exasperation, "Just fly higher!" Obediently, Echo swerved up clumsily.
"Would you not wobble like that?! I don't feel like testing the theory that cats land on their feet every time! What if it's not true?!" Echo looked at her in horror, "It might not be true!? How can you even think that?! Are you saying that the last 6 years of my life might have been a lie?!" Splash sighed, "I think you're exaggerating a tiny bit."
"Splash, focus! How can you goof of at a time like this?!" Splash glared at the flying girl, "Jerk." Echo pouted, "Why am I spending the possibly last moments of my life arguing with you-?!" A Titan's hand appeared and swatted her down. Even though Splash managed to land on Echo's back, Echo's head hit the ground and she blacked out.
