I chuckled then looked at Lilly

I chuckled then looked at Lilly. She has a lot in common with her mother.

"I approve of you son."

That made me blush and all the others to burst out laughing.

..

"Lilly, your mother and I have to go get some stuff. You and Aaron-"

"Andrew," I corrected him for the 9th time today.

I think he's doing that on purpose! He does it for amusement. It's not bothering me that much, though.

"Ah right," he chuckled. "You and Arthur have some fun with Ma."

"It was nice meeting you!" I shouted as they left us in the living room with Lilly's Grandma. Josh -her brother- went back to his room satisfied after he defeated me twice in Call of Duty.

We were quietly watching a movie on TV. I could hear them whispering to each other for a bit before Grandma Bunny excused herself.

Lilly scooted to my side and nudged me, making me look at her.

"Tell me what's wrong?"

"Nothing is-"

She cut me off glaring, "Don't dare, tell me!"

..

As soon as my head touched the pillow I could feel my once tense muscles relax. Closing my eyes, I thought of everything that happened today and grinned. I can't believe that actually happened. The words came out of my mouth without even thinking.

I haven't felt that happy in so long.

(Flashback)

"Andrew I swear if you didn't tell me what's-"

"It's my dad..." I started.

Minutes later she was hugging me so tight trying to comfort me.

And she did. I felt in peace once I told her basically everything.

It felt good to let it all out. It felt better that she was the one listening.

I loved spending the day with her and her family. They made me feel welcomed.

At home. My home.

"Lilly, be with me."

She pushed herself away shocked. Did I freak her out?

All of a sudden she grabbed the cup of water I was holding and drank it all in one go.

"Be with me," I said again clearly. "Be mine."

She choked and started coughing so hard.

"Is this your way of rejecting me?"

Her grandma then appeared out of nowhere, shook her head saying, "Typical," she averted her gaze on me. "What do you expect? IT'S A YES!"

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life.
