Grandma Bunny might be a cheeky one but when it comes to people, she either loves or hates. No in between's. I'm praying for Andrew to make a good first impression. The last thing needed is a family member hating on him.
That'd be awful.
"Oh my my," her voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Aw, you brought... lilies. Hmph, you're makin' it hard to assess you, young man."
I heard him then say, "What can I do, I can't help my charm."
I snickered.
"Dammit, I like you already! Come here." Was all I heard her say before I sneaked from behind her to have a look at them.
What I saw drew a smile on my lips. Granny was hugging Andrew as if she knew him many years ago. The way she hugs her grandchildren.
..
"Tell me, Adam," Dad started.
"Andrew, it's Andrew, sir." He corrected him.
"I apologise," Dad said patting his mouth with a napkin. "Tell me, Andrew, what do you do for a living?"
Andy cleared his throat. "I am a psychiatrist. In other words, a shrink or therapist."
Andrew's P.O.V
I feel other-worldly, other than myself - devoid of problems and able to leap small buildings in a single bound... no, wait, that is Superman.
Seriously, I do feel unburdened and able to see without any filters or restrictions because my spirit is freed from all of that. I am in pain but by just mentioning what I'm so passionate about, the pain seemed to lessen and further away.
Lately, all I'd do is count my heartbeats until a pang of pain reverberates throughout my body.
But now, I only want to foster and enjoy this moment.
During dinner, Mr Wilson and I had a little chat. We talked about my job for while then he asked about my parents and family. That was when I tensed.
"He owns the CPS construction companies."
"Oh, your dad is Connor Stephens?" He sounded surprised.
I nodded with a blank face.
"Praise your dad for me. He's such a smart man, being able to make his business one of the most successful in the states and abroad, that is wonderful!"
I don't see why he likes him. He doesn't know who he actually is. He might be successful but hey, that does not mean he's amazing. He is not amazing. As a father, he's okay. He supports my sister and I financially though nothing else. All he could give us is money. Not love, not care, nothing a father is meant to give his children.
"And seeing he brought up a well-mannered man like yourself is astonishing!"
I groaned quietly as I got more annoyed.
Stop praising him!
I could feel a little warm hand giving my thigh a squeeze. I looked down to see it was Lilly's. She must've sensed my discomfort.
We were all silent for a moment until Mrs Wilson asked, "Did you like the Croquettes dear?"
You can clearly see how desperately she wanted a 'yes' for an answer.
I gave her a smile. "Yes! It was so delicious." I did not lie, the plate was highly pleasant to the taste.
She then threw her napkin at Mr Wilson with a smug look on her face. "Ha, told you it tastes better than the one we ate in that fancy restaurant in Spain."
