Moving has always been hard on a kid, especially in the challenging years of high school. Having to make new friends, learning a whole new school, and even dealing with the loss of the people and place you grew up in. This is the story of how a kid named Ash found something greater than he could've ever imagined in the biggest shake-up of his life.
We start our story on a cool august night, near the end of summer. Our "new kid" to be Ash Ketchum and his mother Delia are about to depart on the adventure of a lifetime. They both never could've guessed what the so called "small town life" would hold for them.
Ash's Pov
As I climbed into the moving van, I was full of sadness. I was leaving behind everything that I've done in the city! All of my friends, family, and even my school. I hate to admit it, but I'm going to miss my school. It was never the best, in fact it was dirty and old, but I've still come to love it. You don't really realize how much you love something until it's gone, and now that I realize I can't go back to that place I used to hate it's really setting in.
It was about 1 in the morning when we set off, because we wanted to arrive at our new home near day break. The moving van was cramped, but it was cozy enough. We didn't need the air conditioning because summer was coming to a close, and it was almost time for school to start.
The first few hours past by fast in the van, mostly because I had my phone. Unfortunately the farther into the boonies we got, the worse my cellular connection got. By that time it was just about sunrise, and it was beautiful. Almost symbolic, really. The sun was rising on a new day, just as we were rising on a new life.
My mom was almost asleep from all the hours of driving, so I put on the radio to keep her up. After all, she isn't used to staying up all night like me.
I tuned into the first station that broke through the static and stared out at the sunrise while listening to the cheerful female voice reading off the news. As the white moving van came to the top of the hill, I looked around to see a very small town compared to where I came from. The tallest building was the water tower!
"Good morning citizens of Kalos! It is a beautiful morning today and I know I'm feeling good! Today we are going to have a clear sky and a nice cool temperature of 70 degrees, so get outside with the kids! Last night our hometown Kalos football team brought home the win against Southern Regional! If you see one of our varsity Cats today, give them a congratulations for the big game!"
I was really shocked that a town this small had a football team, but I was really happy. At least that would give me a way to get to know some other guys here. Maybe even some cheerleaders, too.
"And in other News, the track is back open! After years of being covered by grass and weeds, a local woman is investing in the business! Be sure to support the track and come see the first horse race here in over 10 years this Saturday at 10!"
A horse racing track? I guess that's all people in this town have to entertain themselves. Racing of any kind besides foot races were always really boring to me. All it is is a bunch of left turns for 30 minutes.
"That's all for me here at Kalos 96.9 , so it's time for some tunes! Have a great morning in an even better town!"
The first song that came on the radio was "you make my dreams" by Hall and Oates. It was a really good song to help me and my mom stay awake, mostly because we couldn't help but sing along as loud as we could.
After a few more minutes of listening to the radio, we had reached the center of town and it was not lit up at all, unlike the city. There were all little shops and family run businesses, no huge chain stores like Wal-Mart here. It was also quiet, so much different then the city. There were people walking to work, jogging with their dogs, and riding their bikes. They were all saying hello to each other and smiling. That was also different. None of them appeared to be in a hurry either.
Shop owners started opening up for the day, turning their door signs to "Open" and waving to neighbors.
Another couple minutes of driving and we came across some houses just outside the middle of town. They were all different colors and sizes, but none of them surpasses two stories. My mom stopped our van outside of one that was white, and two stories high. It had a wind bet on the roof in the shape of a rooster, and a satellite dish on the side. There was a small garden full of garden herbs like basil and garlic. We had our own garage, and a back yard.
"Well what do you think?" My mom looked to me with a smile.
"It's awesome!" I ran out of the van to see it closer up.
I ran inside and looked all around.
The house had a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. I ran upstairs to see my room, and almost tripped myself on my way up. It was small, but it was mine. I had a window and my own personal bathroom with a shower and all. I ran back down stairs to see my mom looking around as well.
"Well, were home." She gave me a warm smile and happy eyes.

So this is my new story! I'm really excited to get the ball rolling on this one and I'm even more excited to share it with you guys. This book is going to be a lot different than my old story, but the same in a way. I know it sounds cryptic, but you'll see where I'm going with this. Im still going to be uploading on my old story, and probably just as often now that the first chapter is out. Most of the time writing this book was planning, because I want to have an idea of where it's going before I get there, but making some pit stops along the way.
I'm really hoping we can make this book an even bigger success than its predecessor, but I'd be happy even having half of hung old readers enjoy this book as well, besides, this story is just as fun to write!
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to check it out, and please spread the word!
