I pulled the thin blanket around my shoulders, the dampness on the room was slowly seeping in to my bones. I just wanted to be home with my family.

But I wasn't, I was here instead. I didn't know where I was or how long I'd been there but it had been too long. I thought back to how happy Gemma had been when Dan had seen her at breakfast.

“Daddy, you missed me climbing the tree!”

“Which tree?” Dan smiled to me as Gemma explained. I smiled back to him, as the doorbell rang and I called, “It’s open.”

What I didn’t know was that when that door opened everything would change.

I closed my eyes and shivered again, the cellar was cold dark and damp enough without me being reminded of my childhood. I just wanted to be home with my daughter and husband.

I knew they'd be looking for me, doing their best to find me. Dan would know what I was remembering, what I was fearing. I rested a hand on my ever so slightly swollen belly, "It'll be fine." I whispered with  my eyes closed.

"We'll be fine." I repeated.
