Please, bare with me. The first two chapters are short and kind of crap, but I swear it gets better if you just push through to chapter three! :)
Enjoy :)

It was dark outside and pouring down rain. I looked around me and noticed that I was standing in the intersection in between my neighborhood and the high school. I ran to the side of the road as I saw two sets of headlights heading towards me from opposite directions. I squinted as I watched the scene before me unfold. One of the cars stopped but the truck kept going faster then ever. The only thing that stopped the speeding truck was when it connected with the car. It was the most horrifying sound as the truck crushed the car completely. Eyes wide, I ran to them only to stop when they both erupted with flames.
I jerked awake, my heart beating uncontrollably. I sat up in bed and dropped my head into my hands waiting for my breathing to become normal again. After taking a few deep breaths I grab my phone to check the time. I groan as I see that it is only 3:45a.m. I can never sleep after having the re-occurring nightmare of the crash, so I grabbed my laptop and turned on Netflix. I took a deep breath and settled into by bed watching Gray's Anatomy until the sun came up.
I guess I fell asleep at some point because I woke up to the sound of my brother quietly opening my door and peaking his head inside my room. I gave him a weak smile along with a mumbled greeting. "Hey Cole."
"Hey Drey." He greeted with a smile as he entered my room and quietly shut the door. "Aunt Cassie wants to make sure we are all packed up."
I groaned as I got into a sitting position, crossing my legs over each other and inviting Cole to sit down next to me. As my dirty- blonde haired brother jumped onto my bed like a little boy I giggled and shook my head. "Yeah I'm packed. We can leave tomorrow morning around 8:00 hopefully."
Frowning he said, "I didn't sleep much last night, did you?"
I shook my head and mumbled, "No, I had that dream." He sat up and looked at me with concern in his eyes. Cole was the only person I could be honest with, don't get me wrong I have tons of friends but to them I am a confident, lighthearted girl. I gave him a small smile as he pulled me into a hug and whispered, "it's okay, I had it too." I wrap my arms around him returning his hug with a quick squeeze.
"Audrey! Colton! It's time for lunch." I heard my aunt scream from the bottom of the stairs. We both got up quickly to go downstairs, ready to eat.
Once downstairs, Cole and I made a failing attempt to get our food from the kitchen without talking to Aunt Cassie.
She grinned as we walked into the kitchen and greeted us holding out two plates. "Good afternoon sleepy heads!" Neither of us spoke so she cheerfully continued, "all ready to leave the Big Apple tomorrow for California?"
Cole and I both have her a weak smile and shrugged. "I guess so. Being on the coast and in the fresh air is going to be different then the big city." I attempt to joke. Cole just shrugged again and said, "at least Jay is coming to boarder school with us."
Jayden and Colton have been best friends since they were born and since I'm a year older then them I have also known Jay since we were kids. I am a junior in high school, while Cole and Jay are sophomores. We are switching to a school on the west coast that will have us living in dorms and far away from any parental guardians.
Cole and I were definitely holding back or excitement as Aunt Cassie rambled about how much she would miss us and that we need to stay out of trouble.
All I could think about was that this is going to be a great year.
