(Side note: I know that One Direction's ages are off from what they are now but I wrote this in 2013 so they were relevant at the time, also Zayn was still in the band so he is also in the story as well, also cause I still love Zayn and he is gonna stay in Summer Love. Ok that's it)

There was only one thing I had mixed feelings about, and that was my summer music camp, Summer's Symphony. It was the most aggravating, yet most enjoyable time of my life. During the last few weeks of school, that was the only thing on my mind, and today was finally the day I would return to that camp, but not as a camper, but a counselor. I just pulled my car up to the lot where campers were unpacking their stuff from their cars and saying goodbye to family members. I pulled my three bags out of the trunk of my car and looked around at my home for the next few weeks.

Summer's Symphony was, obviously, a camp that focused on music, and anything to do with music. It also imcluded other activities, such as tree climbing, team building, swimming, and other typical camp activities. I participated in mostly the singing and musical theatre programs for my previous three years. I had been attending Summer's Symphony since the summer before my freshman year.

At first, I was totally pissed that my dad was forcing me to go there. First of all, it was located several miles and states away from all of my friends in California, and in addition I had to cancel all my plans for the summer. However, as soon as I got there, my perspective completely changed. I made a ton of new friends, and I actually got to sing and show off songs I had written.

"Scarlett!" My best friend Amanda, squealed, noticing my arrival and running to hug me. I can't believe I haven't seen her since last summer. Sure, we texted each other practically every day, but I couldn't wait to finally see her and physically hug her.

I gave her a huge squeeze, "Oh my God, Amanda!" We finished greeting each other and doing a small bit of catching up. We started walking to our cabin and we looked around at the camp. "Can you believe that we're finally back?"

She shook her head. "I know! The school year went by so fast...Thank God!" She grinned at me, "And the best part...We're finally counselors!"

I smiled and nodded. After three years of being a regular camper, I had finally upgraded to a camp counselor!

"I know! Do you realize we're helping to develop and shape the musical minds of our future?" I asked Amanda. She just shrugged.

"I'm just excited that I get to boss people around, and make them work for me." She replied and we both giggled, but she stopped suddenly. "S, what the hell are you wearing?"

I looked down at what I had on. It was a loose simple white cotton dress, with thin straps and an open back ending a few inches above my knees, and a long gold necklace with a small turquoise stone on it. I left my hair down in it's natural, near waist-length, brown waves, and I only wore a bit of eyeshadow and mascara. I thought I looked fine.

"What? It's from Brandy Melville, you don't like it? It's the necklace, isn't it? I knew it was too much!" I began to take the necklace off, but Amanda shook her head.

"No, no. I like the dress, and the necklace is so cute!" She assured me. "But what is up with those shoes? Couldn't you have worn you're cute brown suede booties with that or something?"

"Oh." I looked down at my white Converse low tops. They were a bit dirty from being worn over the years and the laces had silver beads woven through them from last summer when we made bracelets. "Come on Mandy, it's a tradition. I always enter camp in my old white Converse, and something else white to match."

She gave me a look and I pouted. "Oh whatever! Just show me our cabin."

She smiled and we turned around, only for me to clumsily trip over my own feet, sending me slamming right into the camp owner.

"Whoa!" He said steadying me. "You alright Scarlett?" He asked in his adorable accent. He was originally from England, but moved here a few years back and started this music camp in California.

"Yeah, sorry Uncle Ryan." I apologized grinning.

Uncle Ryan wasn't actually my Uncle. He's just hates it when the campers or counselors call him 'Mr. Ryan' or - even worse - 'Sir'. He says that he isn't old enough to be considered a 'Mr' or 'Sir'; which is true. He's only twenty-five.

And yes, before you even ask, I may have the teeniest-tiniest of crushes on him. But honestly I can't help it, he's smart, funny, loves music and kids, and he's undeniably attractive. Still, nobody knows. Well, nobody but Amanda.

"It's fine. Just watch your step. We don't want another repeat of summer 2011." He winked at me, and I cringed remembering possibly the most mortifying moment of my entire life.

Two summers ago, a bunch of other campers and I decided to climb a tree. I had almost made it up half way when I stepped wrong and it sent me tumbling, only to get my shirt snagged on a branch and dangle there for what felt like an eternity. Eventually, another camper saw me and had tried to help me get off of the branch, but he was laughing so hard that he had managed to accidentally year my shirt off. I fell five feet, broke my arm, and was practically naked in front of the whole camp. Luckily Uncle Ryan was there and I was only exposed for five seconds until he put his coat around me.

Amanda laughed. "That was hilarious." I shot her a quick glare and she stopped laughing. "Um, I mean - completely horrible and not funny in any way."

I rolled my eyes and Uncle Ryan smiled. "Oh, here." He dug around in the box he was holding and tossed two lanyards at us. They had a card that read 'Counselor Scarlett' and 'Counselor Amanda' on them, and each with a shiny, silver whistle. "Put those on. See you girls later, I have to go make sure everyone is doing their job right." He ruffled my hair and walked away. I let out a longing sigh and watched him walk away.

Okay, so maybe it's a little more than a teeny-tiny crush.

Amanda laughed from beside me. "In your dreams Scarlett," She said and tugged me away.

"Scarlett!" my other cabin mate, and good friend, Claire Donnevan squealed and gave me a huge hug. "I've missed you!"

I smiled. "I missed you too! Wow, you look great. I love your bangs!"

She touched her bangs gently and smiled. "Thanks, my mom said that they compliment my eyes, but I wasn't too sure."

"Don't worry, they look amazing!" Amanda reassured the blonde, bouncing onto one of the beds.

I nodded and then noticed the fourth empty bed in our cabin. "So who's our fourth cabin mate?"

Claire grinned. "Nobody. The girl who was supposed to be in here got strep throat and couldn't come. It's just us!"

We cheered for a little bit, and then Claire checked the time. "We better get going or else we'll be late for the Opening Greeting."

I groaned and flopped on the bed. "Are you sure we can't be there a little late?"

The Opening Greeting was basically a performance from Uncle Ryan's godson. I couldn't stand the guy. He was cocky and conceited and he thought he was all that and a bag of chips because he's a pretty good singer. Plus, he's made it his mission to make me fall for him because I'm the only girl in the camp that doesn't fawn over him. Well, other than Amanda, but she doesn't really like anyone, at least I don't think.

Not to mention that he was the camper who horribly embarrassed me two summers ago.

"Besides nobody will notice if we don't even go, there's like a billion other campers that can watch Mr. Superstar show off on the stage," I complained and pulled the blanket on my bed up and over my head.

Claire and Amanda shared a look and sure enough, dragged me all the way out of the cabin and out to the central stage right on time to see the performance. I groaned as I saw him walk onstage smirking.
