JWDA-0612 is the largest asteroid heading toward Earth since the Dinosaur-wiping asteroid. Its current distance from Earth is 12 Astronomical Units, but there is almost no chance of it missing the planet. The asteroid is heading toward earth, that is the (not-so) simple truth.

"...there is no other way." "There always is another way, Welson." "But not now, not here, we either do it, or we all die." "Take the astronomer before us Welson." Welson turned toward his assistant and told him to take the astronomer inside. The assistant, William Eden, was quite handsome. Tall, black hair and dark eyes, he was in his early twenties and wore a tuxedo. He immediately set off once he was given a task.
Frank Hoffman was German and the leader of the UN team for the CEU, which has begun forming as soon as 2015 with the military pact between some of the Central European Countries.
Getting Hoffman on his side would be a great victory. The CEU was the second wealthiest country on earth, thanks to its colonies, and the biggest industrial nation on Earth.
Eden returned with Jeremy White, an astronomer, the man who discovered the great danger. Welson was the second to know about this aside from Whites team, since being Whites childhood friend. "Jeremy, come here, come, come. I need you to tell the UN of your discovery since you're the specialist and has the numbers." Welson told Whites quietly. "Alright..." Whites sounded a bit nervous but most of all... frightened. He didn't count it against him. He himself was frightened to death. He just was better at hiding it.
Jeremy stepped forward to the little table and put his documents on it. He drank the whole glass of water which was on the table and took a deep breath.
"Hello, my name is Jeremy White Junior, I'm an astronomer and I and my team have found a... dangerous entity. The matter at hand is the following. There is an asteroid on collision course with the planet we are standing on. Its size is the following: 19 miles, long 10 miles wide, and 7 miles deep. That makes it about thrice the size of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs a couple million years back." He took another deep breath. It could be heard at the end of the hall because of the silence that crashed on the room once saying it was on collision course. "The aftereffects of this collision would be catastrophic. It is to fall into the south of Manchuria, which would kill hundreds of millions, even billions. In a matter of a minute.
The whole of Eastern Asia would be blackened and the wave would go as far as Hawaii and Alaska in the East, and Pakistan and the Ural Mountains in the west. The world would enter two or three millennia of absolute darkness and an ice age for another thousand or two, years.
It is currently about 130 Astronomical Units away, between Uranus and Neptune. That gives us about twelve and a half year until the collision.
There are ideas to divert the asteroid with nuclear rockets; but the only real possibility to save humanity and earthborn life, as it is now, is to... send it away."
"Are you proposing to leave all 11 billion citizens of Earth here, and sent a couple of astronauts with plants into outer space?"
"Not quite that sir, back in NASA there are prototype blueprints of what we call a "Mothership". It's an orbital built spaceship that each could carry a couple thousand men, women and children. It also has space for growth but it's designed to carry a lot of passengers, very far, with its hibernating capsules."
There was another long silence... a LONG silence.
"So you want nations to build these..."Motherships"?"
"Yes,"
Another silence...

He was on the Helion space station, 12 years after the CEU and other nations joined the "Dual Universe" project. 230 motherships; with a capacity of slightly above 1 and a half million passengers. It was ready. Though there were a few ships still being completed.
He was not going to be on any of these ships. He decided about it, the moment when the CEU joined DU.
"Jeremy?" "Yeah?" "The asteroid... it's closing in faster then we have expected." "How soon?" "A week, two if we're lucky."
He sighed."You know what to do. Prepare the rockets immediately and send the engines on."
He was now an admiral of the UNSF. He wanted to see the ships fly...
"Brace for impact." He chuckled.

A week and two days later
The final preparations were being completed and all of the passengers were in their cryopods. He didn't know what to think of it. In a couple hours the asteroid would hit with him on the ground, right in Manchuria. And Earth was erupting into chaos. With people doing things they always wanted to do. The first ship has undocked. He oversaw the op from a tent here in Manchuria. The engines flared up and hundreds of other lights followed. Save Humanity. Save yourselves.
The explosion came like a thunder multiplied by a thousand. Suddenly there was a light and warmth. Heat, and darkness, with a small dot, like a star in the middle.
Hello and thank you so much for reading this prologue. I know it's quite short and I will make the chapters longer(if you desire, please tell me in the comment section).
You probably already noted that I'm not a native English speaker, so if you are. Please tell me about any mistakes I made in phrasing or grammar. I do wish criticism not just love, so please tell me honestly about anything you wish changed.
But for now, have a nice day, stay cheeki breeki. Nijaana from the eastern bloc. ;)
(please give a star or a...crikey... gonna eat ya')
