I worked as a journalist but most of the time was in an office, and ultimately my life was extremely boring, nothing exciting ever happened I wake up, have a shower, get dressed eat, take a shit, go to work, eat some more, go home, sleep, repeat. I went too work like I do every other day, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket so I checked it half falling asleep on my office desk. It was a message from an unknown number
If you had one wish what would it be
I thought this was strange but I was extremely bored so I replied
I'd want something exciting too happen.
I never got a reply so I put it out of my mind and continued on with my work.
I got held back when my boss called me into her office
"Mark come in" my boss insisted. I did as I was told and took a seat across from her.
"I hear that your bored with you job is this correct?"
"Well yes" I reply.
"I have a story for you too cover" she looks me directly in the eyes.
"There have been reports of a man with a sick smile stalking the streets of our city I want you to find out all you can"
I was late coming home that night, "Sarah is gonna be so pissed" I thought.
I jumped in my car and sped down the freeway. I looked out the front screen of my car and standing in the middle of the road I saw... A man with the most unnatural sickly smile that I could see in the bright headlights, I quickly slammed on the breaks but as soon as I did there was no-one in front of me nothing but the dark and the slight shining of the midnight moon. I just shook it off and continued the 20 minute drive too my home where I lived with my girlfriend Sarah and our cat fish yes we named the cat fish it was Sarah's idea.
I arrived home and opened the door too the house, "baby I'm home" I called out "sorry I'm late I got a little held up at work" I walked into our bedroom "What the hell" I whispered unable too hide my horror from my voice the bed was covered in what appeared to be blood, there was no body just a drawing of a wide smiling face drawn in blood on the wall. I closed my eyes tight and took a heavy disturbed breath before reopening them and bolting out of the room screaming. I fumbled with my pockets until I found my phone and called the cops I heard a laugh coming from inside the house a sick terrible laugh of a man, I was standing in the street screaming on my phone but not a single light turned on in any of the neighboring houses as if no one was home anywhere. I heard the sirens of the police cars in the distance. I heard the terrible laughing again and I turned around too face the house standing on the other side of the window was a smiling man waving at me he laughed again before disappearing.
