"Kushina...I-I'm not...good at... th-this... can you talk to h-him?"

Those were words spoken by Minato Namikaze, who, along with his wife, was slowly dying.

They had been impaled through the stomach by one of the Nine-Tails' claws, a deadly spirit that had wreaked havoc on Konoha and had nearly destroyed it.

The two stood, blood all around them, oozing from their lips and coughing it up, in front of their son, who had been born only a few hours prior to the attack. The Nine-Tails's aim was for the baby, but the couple quickly sacrificed themselves to save the boy.

"W-what?" roared Nine-Tails, the Yin half of it being sealed into the baby boy by Minato and Kushina.

Kushina looked down at her son, and as the roaring Nine-Tails was slowly sealed inside their offspring, a black mark of a seal appeared on his belly.

"Naruto...Listen to me, okay?" she said weakly to their son while Minato stood behind her and held her, helplessly watching the tiny boy that had just seen the world for the first time not even an hour ago.

"I love you so, so much, and I want you to listen to my advice. Grow up to be big and strong, okay? I want you to... m-make sure you bathe consistently... eat your vegetables, they'll help you grow... and m-most importantly... make friends... that you won't forget...."

She gave him a weary smile, but her eyes said everything, and Minato thanked her quietly.

Minato and Kushina grimaced at the pain, at the claw that had pierced them both through the abdomen.

But when Minato glanced at the two people he couldn't love more in the world, he smiled a little.

He looked at her beautiful long red hair, the way it swished in the wind ever so slightly, at her shoulders which his hands had rested on so many times, and as she turned to smile at him, her stunning violet eyes and her perfect face that he would love, he was sure, even in death. Her lips, her soft and heavenly lips, which his had brushed against too many times to count. He looked at her stomach, which had held their very first and last child only a few hours ago.

"Kushina...thank you so much. I love you and Naruto more than anything, and if we had been able to witness him growing up... as a family, I... would have b-been the... happiest man on earth."

They smiled at each other one last time, gave each other one last squeeze of a hand, and as Minato sealed the remaining chakra inside their baby, took one last look at him, took one last breath, they slipped away slowly from the world.

"Let's let go, okay?" were Kushina's final words.

The last thing Minato saw was a picture of them all together.

Then everything went dark.
