Where was I?
A women was falling, she was falling a good ways down too, her body twisted in directions it shouldn't have been. The ground got closer, she braced herself for the impact, but it came to fast. She lay there, unable to move a muscle, she was fear stricken, her heart beat slowed, into irregular patterns, and her body was twisted as it was when she fell. She tried to move but the pain was unbearable. There was a man, standing above her; he stared down at her, concern written all over his face, he spoke words she could not hear. He bent down to touch her softly, but as he did, pain shot through her like lightning, she managed a soft squeal. The man pulled out what looked like a phone, he tried calling her name again but as he called for help, she lost a hold of her consciousness.
"Good Morning, Rose" The nurse said, bringing me breakfast.
I was a little groggy, it was a long night, everywhere in my body hurt, I had to have physical therapy last night, it was long and hard, and I thought every joint in my body was going to pop out of its socket.
"Morning" I answered,
"Are you feeling alright?” she asked, helping me sit up.
"A little pain, but it’s getting better" I lied.
"Good, Good, I’m glad you’re feeling better, well I brought you some breakfast, and you haven’t eaten in some time, so I want to see you eat today, do you understand me?" Nurse Phyllis, was one of those old fashioned nurses, she was one of those Nurse/Mom types. But I loved her none the less.
My Family gave up on me, and moved some where in montana, some time after the accident, it’s been Three years since then, and Phyllis has been the only family I’ve had since then. Well except for the man who practically saved my life.
"Good morning Rose", Damen said coming into the room
My stomach fluttered seeing him again, he was the man who saved me, and he’s been here ever since, helping me get better, literally every single day. But the nurses don’t mind him hear since he helps out so much, like feeding me, helping me in physical therapy, and reading to me. I loved it when he read to me, it made me feel so warm inside. But he doesn’t do that much now, I’m a lot different than I was three months ago. My hair grew back, long and full, and since I hadn’t cut it, it was down to my back, I'm a proud brunette. My eyes returned to its natural color-hazel. The color came back to my face, and i think I grew since then, Damen told me I was 5"8, a little shorter than him which made me smile.
"I'm better than yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that," I mused, smiling at him.
He gave me a crooked smile, and my stomach fluttered again.
"I'm happy, to hear that Rose, I’m glad you’re feeling better, because you know what day it is?" he asked, pulling up a chair beside my bed.
Um, it wasn’t my birthday, because I turned 18 last week, March 17th, it wasn’t his birthday, because his was a month after mine April 24th, he turned 23, I remembered, because I stitched him a scarf. Don’t judge me; you learn to do many things when you’re in the hospital this long.
"You gonna tell me?" I asked,
"Pre-release day," he said smiling at me
"Pre-release day?" I repeated
"Yes, one week before they let you out of the hospital, aren't you excited?"
Wait? What? They were letting me out of the hospital? Why didnt they tell me? I can't be let out of here, I have no where to go, I'm homeless, I have no family, and on top of that I'm HOMELESS. Where would I go, I mean i know I would have to leave eventually but, this soon?
"But wait, wait", i protested
"Where am I supposed to live? Get food? Get a job? I have to finish school, I have to go to collage I mean, I mean start school, How am I, What am I....."
"Shhhh....," he, put his finger on my lips and gave me a sidelong glance.
"You will live with me, Your going to start collage a week after you get out, and my sister is going to take you shopping," He said without pause.
"Any questions?", he asked
I was speechless.
"No? Then its settled, My sister will be coming to pick you up, later today, and i'll be waiting at the house. Are you going to be okay until then?"
I was still speechless.
He Smiled that smile that probably would have made my heart stop but, my brain froze after her said "You'll be living with me."
"Okay then, I'll see you at about sevenish, be good until then alright?"
Finally I found the will to speak.
"Y-Yeah, sure, ofcourse i will, you know me" i smiled awkwardly
