"Um, Albus... I will be going now" I said to my best friend and rose up from my seat in the library.

"Oh, where? Never mind, you finally got Rose to accept your invitation to have a date with you. I guess Malfoy the Unanxious is getting more popular among the females of Hogwarts" My best friend answered smiling although something about that smile seemed off. Like , it was a little bit too forced to be genuine. To anyone else it would have been completely convincing but having Albus as my best friend, well actually the only friend ', for six years I am proud to say that I know him better than anyone else. "Good luck on your date. You are going to need it or otherwise Rose will deem you even weirder than before. Have fun. I think I will be staying here." Good to notice that he is still the git he always has been. I showed him off his chair and went my way to the Gryffindor Tower where I would be meeting Rose.

Albus has been oddly reluctant towards my attempts to charm Rose. I am not sure why, but when Rose's name is mentioned he becomes even more surly than usual. As if he didn't want to me dating Rose? I quickly show away that thought from my mind. It would be completely ridiculous because Albus and Rose have kind of rekindled their friendship last year. But what if it is not the fact that it is Rose I want to date but that the fact I want to date at all. Well, then he would be an utter and complete hypocrite as he uses most off his times at potions making heart eyes at professor Starmeadow. And he says he does not have a thing for older women...

My musings are interrupted as I notice that my feet have carried me to the Gryffindor Tower in front of a painting of the Fat Lady. The portrait opens and Rose stepped out. She really was beautiful, maybe not in the classical way but beautiful nevertheless. "Oh, hello Scorpius, you are early" "Erm , yeah ... You know it would be bad manners to be late from a date. My mother always mde sure that I would be in time for all my appointments and my grandfather always said that it would be unbecoming for a Malfoy to show tardiness..." As I ramble on Rose lifted her left eyebrow and I silently curse myself for mentioning Lucius Malfoy. "I think we should be going right" she said and tookmy hhand and started walking towards Hogsmead. "We are holding hands. Have we hold hands before? Do we hold hands?" To be honest I was not sure what I was supposed to be doing. Rose apparently found this highly amusing and said smiligs "Let's just go, Bread Head."

---Time skip---

I think that the date went okay. We went to Three Broomsticks for butter beer and then walked around the village of Hogsmead. We found that we shared many common interests, such as books. Well mainly books but she was very enthusiastic to talk about quidditch too. Even though I said to Albus that I would try to play quidditch the sport still never really excited me. It is interesting game to follow but it somehow lacked something for me. Albus was still the same and did not voluntarily go even near a broom stick if he could just avoid it. I think it is really a pity because he looks really good on a broom stick when the wind tussles his hair and... I quickly stop that train of thought as Rose tries to get my attention and I notice that we are in front of the Gryffindor common room again. "Well I had fun but we must part now" Rose said to me. I hugged her as a goodbye and noticed again her scent. "You smell good, Rose. Like bread. A nice warm, and fresh bread..." "What is it with you and bread?" Rose asked smiling. Then her expression changed to more serious one and she looked straight into my eys. "Scorpius, you are a great guy and I would love to go to another date with you but if you don't tell Albus how you really feel about him, I will. Good night Scorpion king." Then she whispered the pass word to the Fat Lady and went into the Gryffindor common room leaving me standing dumbfounded in the corridor.

I could not go in the Slytherin common room after what Rose had said. Instead I went and had a walk outside. "What on the earth did she mean? How I really feel about Albus? That was easy to answer. Albus is and has always been my best friend at Hogwarts nothing more. Of course our relationship has always been closer than for most other students have at Hogwarts. Albus my seem aloof and distant but when you really know him you know that in reality he is kind of touchy-feely type and show affection. He shows it with acts such as friendly hugs. But somehow it felt my heart with warmness when I see Albus smiling. He does not smile often but when he smiles he beams. It's a truly blinding sight. He should not smile like that at anyone else but me. Wait, where di that last thought come from?

I took a look at my surroundings and I had somehow ended up in the middle of the Forbidden forest. The trees were growing close to each other and in the dark autumn evening I could not see far ahead of me. At least I could see that path I apparently had walked here. After assessing my surroundings I dive deep into my thoughts again. When Albus did not exist in a different reality I felt the most miserable I ever had. Like a bit of myself was missing. And during the summer if a day went without an owl from Albus I felt anxious if I had somehow hurt him or if something had happened. Albus has always stood by me and vise versa. Albus and Scorpius. Scorpius and Albus. It is how it should be and how it always should be. At that moment I realized that I feel something else for Albus that just friendliness.

But should I really admit it to him as Rose suggested? Albus is most likely straight. He fancied Delphi and also has asked for "extra lessons" from professor Starmeadow. He has never before done something like that. He would probably be disgusted . It would be the end of our friendship. I could not take it. No, I can never admit it to him. I ould rather be miserable and alone than without his friendship. Also what would my father and mother say. Mother who always was there for me even though her sickness has weakened her. Always reassuring me when I felt unsure, always there when I needed her. And now she wasn't. I definitely wasn't fair.

I heard rustling of leaves and something like a sound of nearing hooves. I draw my wand out of my pocket and lit it up with a Lumos. Three centaurs emerged from the shadows. "You have no right to be here, human" The one nearest to me bellowed. "Get away and never trespass our lands again." "But I don't know how to get back to school, and I did not know this area was yours. I thought that it still is the lands of Hogwarts". Aggravated the centaur rose on two feet "Arrogant as wizards always are, thinking that they own everything and other creatures have no rights. It is you that has no right to be here.." "That is enough Bane". Another unknown voice said. I looked around and saw a fourth centaur. This one was even more handsome than the others even though he had two scars that looked like hooves on his chest. "Firenze." The centaur called Bane addressed the newcomer. I somehow got over my anxiousness and asked "Ftrenze. The Firenze who taught at Hogwarts and fought against the Death Eaters?" "Yes, I am" Firenze simply answered and turned to Bane. "Wizards may sometimes be ignorant but don't forget that it is wizards that have prevented several catastrophes from happening. It was wizards that provided this forest as our sanctuary. We should let the boy return to the school where he belongs, unharmed" Bane stood silent for a while and said "The moon is shining brightly tonight." With that the three centaurs left and vanished into the dark forest.

Firenze turned to me " Young Malfoy. The thing you seek is near. But the thing you are really looking for is not in the world outside. You have to find it inside yourself" Firenze turned away and left me alone again. "Wait, what?. I don't understand! What am I searching? What should I bee looking for? How do I get back to school" No one answered if you don't count the few hooting owls. I continue back the path I came back and arrive at a clearing. The stories of the second wizarding war came into my mind. Could this really be the place where Harry Potter...? I get my wand and shouted "Accio resurrection stone" I really did not expect it work as well as it did and soon it was in my hand. It was smooth but otherwise it looked like an any other stone, nothing remarkable. Could this thing really bring back the dead? I could see my mother again. I could tell her how much I miss her. How sorry I am that I could not prevent her from dying. I could tell her that I have hopelessly fallen in love with my best friend who will never return my feelings. Would she be angry or disappointed? Or I could just hurl he stone in to the dark forest so far that I can never find it again. It was the last option that was realized.

"A wise decision, young Malfoy" I heard the voice of Firenze behind me. "Do you have any idea how many witches or wizards would be strong enough to do what you just did? Past has happened, we can and should not try to alter it or keep living in it. It is time for you to now return back to Hogwarts. Follow me."

When I returned to the Slytherin dormitories I peeked behind the curtains that hid Albus deeply in peaceful sleep. He really was the most beautiful boy. I went into my bed and laid down. Before falling asleep I felt a little bit ashamed for thinking that my mother would not accept Albus and me. After all she did see the good in my father and would be happy to see that I have someone to make the world a little less murky than it is. And maybe one day I am unanxious enough to tell Albus how I really feel about him.
