New Friends In A New Year

Applejack's POV:
I went up to the front of my second period class and took a seat with my friends. After the class was all settled, out teacher walked up the board.

"Attention class!" Ms. K called, "We have two new students today! They're going to come and introduce themselves. Welcome them up!"

I glanced behind me, RaRa and that other kid stood up. They have the same classes as I do. Fuck.

"Uhm... hi! My name is RaRa. I'm pretty basic, I like to sing, uhm... I'm pretty good at drawing I guess. I guess I'm pretty nice, you'll probably like me. I can make friends with pretty much anyone!" She smiled and waved, then went to sit back down.

"And this is her friend Sky, now he's going to tell us about himself." Ms. K smiled.

Sky visibly cringed at being called "he", the teacher didn't pick up on it.

"Yeah, hi. My name is Sky. I'm with RaRa, so... if you get to know her you'll get to know me. Chances are though, if this is anything like my old school, none of you are gonna want to get to know me. Because, well... I mean..." Sky paused and motioned to his outfit. Bright red-orange hair, a blue hooded jacket, and a knee length skirt with boots. Not exactly your average male outfit, but he pulls it off. "So hey, if you don't want to beat me up, then I'm cool. I'll be chill if you are." He gave a half smile and went to sit down.

Well... that was fairly interesting.

Rarity's POV:
The bell rang at the end of fifth period, lunch time. Applejack and I grabbed our friends and went to sit with our friends. After a little bit Pinkie Pie came over.

"You guys know that the new girl and her friend are sitting alone. Maybe we should go over there, I mean... they seem nice." She said.

Everyone agreed, so we headed over there.

"Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie! This my girlfriend Twilight! These are my friends Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Applejack! Nice to meet you!" Pinkie beamed at RaRa, holding out her hand.

RaRa shook it, then offered us some seats. She started to say something, then stopped when she saw Aj. "Applejack?!" She gasped, "Ah! I can't believe it's you! I haven't heard from you since eight grade, and here you are three years later! You grew your hair out, and you're taller! It's so nice to see you again!"

I glanced at Applejack, "You two know each other?" I asked.

"Yeah, me and Applejack were the best of friends back when she went to school with me! You're name is... Rarity? Right? Applejack's just the best, right?" RaRa smiled.

"Why, yes she is... pleasure of you to notice." I said. That sounded a bit colder than I meant it to.

"So..." RaRa started again, trying to shake off the awkwardness, "Applejack, seeing anyone now that you live here?"

"Yeah, actually." Aj smiled.

"She's seeing me, darling." I smiled at her.

She had a shocked look, "That's great! I'm glad your happy Aj, but I've talked enough! This is Sky. They're my datemate for what I can only hope will be the rest of my life!"

"Datemate?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Oh yeah," RaRa looked at Sky, he nodded. "Sky is agender. So they really didn't like the term boyfriend. Girlfriend wouldn't work either. I had no idea what to call them, so since we're mates that date I call them my datemate!"

We all kind of made an ohhh face and continued eating.

"So do any of you have any significant others?" RaRa asked with a smile, then got a serious face, "As long as that's something you're willing to tell me. I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable."

Pinkie chimed in, "Well, you already know me and Twi are dating, and you know about Rarity and Aj. So that leaves you with most well known opposites attract power couple of CHS. The two and only, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash!" Pinkie ended the sentence by giving a grand gesture to the two.

Rainbow was sitting with her arm wrapped around Shy, who was really trying to hide her face. "Yep. Really happy that this one would ever even consider dating me. After all my fuck ups I can't tell you how happy I was when she actually agreed." Rainbow grinned and gave Fluttershy a peck in the cheek.

I glanced over at Aj, something didn't feel right about this new girl.
