We sat there for a moment where I laughed and she groaned then we both headed to my room.

"We're still going to the coffee shop?" she reminded me.

"Yeah, when though?" I replied.

"Today's my day off so after you're done with work of course." She tells me.

I grabbed my phone from my stick-on bra (I placed it there since I was a hundred and ten percent sure I'd lose it at the wedding. Best. Hiding place. Ever.) and turned it on.

Shit.

A sudden rush of emotions goes through me. I slept in. It's Monday. I'm late. "WORK."

..

"Miss Lilly!" I heard the sweet angelic voice of my cute little student, Skylar, as I entered the quad of the elementary school that I work for.

A smile spread on my face and I kneeled down opening my arms for her.

"Sky!" I hugged her tightly. "How's my sweetie today?" I cooed to the three-year-old.

"Not so good." I frowned as she said that.

"Why, love?" I asked concerned.

Skylar is a student in the UKG class I teach. She's a delightful cherub. She comes from an orphanage near the block. Her parents died in a car crash and it seems like she doesn't have anybody else.

Trust me when I say, I become all mama-bear when something happens to her. No kid should go through what she did. That was the reason why I took an oath to protect and provide her with all the love and items she needs. Like a child of my own, I'd always treat her.

"You were not there this morning and we had to have Ms Booky spooky! She's so evil, she let Marcus sit beside me the whole class. Marcus of all the kiddies out there! He kept on tugging my ponytail. Also, also-" She held out one finger telling me to wait as she was panting trying to regain her breath. "-he was a big meanie to me. He pushed me off the swing. My elbow is all scratched now and it stings." She ranted with glossy eyes.

"Aw baby I'm sorry, let me see."

She rolled her right sleeve up and I took her hand lightly and gave it a kiss.

"It will get better, and I promise I'll never be late ever again," I assured.

She looked at me with hopeful eyes holding out her pinky, "Pinky promise?"

"Of course," I entwined my little finger to hers. "Now can I see your smile?"

"No."

I pouted."Why? Forgive me, your highness!" I whined dramatically lifting her up in the air.

"Because Marcus is impossible! He's always a muttonhead when I'm around." She said between giggles.

I put her down and smirked whispering, "Well, someone's going to sit in the naughty corner today."

She erupted in giggles once again and hugged me tighter than ever, "I love you, Miss Lilly. I think if you get him to say sorry, it would be enough."

I smiled genuinely at her adoring her kindness and ease in forgiveness. "I love you too, now go off to your class. Don't want you to get in trouble now, do we?"

I then went off to my room to set my things. I wonder how I wasn't fired since I missed half the day.

Oh well, Mr Banks must've fallen for my charm.

That's beyond any doubt, why I was informed I had 'break duty' for the rest of the week. Such a lovely man in his sixties. I hope he hits his pinky toe on the corner of every piece of furniture in his house. Nothing personal.

..

The long walk up the stairs usually gets me annoyed. WHY CAN'T THIS BUILDING HAVE AN ELEVATOR... it's the twenty-first-century people, come on.

I was hoping it wouldn't get to me today but it did. I hopped through them today with a scowl on my face. I am exhausted. Period.

I rushed to my room, slammed the door behind me and just skedaddled to bed.

'Hey Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind! Hey Mickey, hey hey, Hey Mickey.'

Oh, how I would slaughter you right now Mickey.

I only set this song as my ringtone for the sake of my inner cheerleader. She can rot in hell. Along with Mickey, I don't mind. And the irritating person who's calling me too.

It was an unknown number. Should I answer? I mean, it could be a serial killer for all I know.

They say curiosity killed the cat.

I say satisfaction brought it back.

"Who the heck are you and why are you calling me?" I grunted as I pressed the answer button and placed the phone on my ear.

Rude, I know. I'm sleepy.

"Uh okay, wow, didn't expect that," a male voice replied with a nervous chuckle.

"Do I know you?"

"YES, um yeah, I'm Andrew."

My eyes were already shut at this point. "Don't know any Andrew's. Wrong number, bye."

"Lilly, wait! It's Andrew, Alex's friend, the wedding... rings any bell?"

The cutie from the other day.

Oh. Oh!

I shot up in bed so fast it made me dizzy.

The effect he has on me already. Damn.

"Huh?"

That startled me causing me to fall off the bed and hit my head. Cursing my clumsiness I said quickly, "Oh, hi. Hello, hey Andy-roo?"

I don't know what happened. I was going to call him Andy but then I stumbled over the words. God, take my awkwardness and me away. I'm begging!
