The sand pulled away from under her feet. She could hear it from far away, its salty fingers reaching out, coming closer and closer, until it was only a second away. Her face was solemn, a mask of stone hiding her away from this world. And with her hair blowing in her face, she cracked a smile, knowing that nothing could hurt her now. Its hands finally reached her, crashing its rough grasp onto her, and with that she fell backwards, pulled into the cold expanse that always welcomed her. It craved her, she knew, and with one last breath, her heavy heart collapsed with relief, because she had finally given in, finally released herself from the painful grip of life.
