I called her a nerd behind her back,
but I suppose that wasn't what she
really was.

You have to be smart to be a nerd,
after all.

There was no way she had any sense
in her mind if the cross necklace she wore
represented her mindset.

Her high morals and strict lifestyle were
only setting her up for failure.

Didn't she know ignorance was bliss?

Still, something about her unattainableness
made her appear golden.

I wanted her and I was going to get her.

I easily made the first move by abandoning
my table to head towards her.

My charming smiles did nothing at first.

She just sat there, twirling that stupid necklace.

I whispered reassuring words to her next,
attempting to give her a new worth.

My efforts succeeded at first. She
gave a small grin.

However, she began to bite her lip
nervously and pick at her nails.

She shook her head, excusing herself
from the table.

The doors to the cafe opened and closed.

She was gone.

I wasn't done with her yet.
