"Y/N," your neighbour Luke had slurred at you, stretching out your name as he swung an arm around your shoulder. "You should be dancing with me," he added as you shrugged his arm off. Luke had always had a thing for you, trying it on whenever he got a chance to and you were bored of telling him no. You searched for your sister's eyes in the crowd, wanting to get her to help get rid of Luke, who's presence was not going to be good for you if your dream man looked your way. "Don't ignore me," Luke growled beside you grabbing your arm tightly to turn you to face him.
"Get off of me," you growled quietly at him as you clawed at his hand where it gripped you. He tightened his grip and started to pull on your arm, drawing you away from the crowd of people around you. "Get off of me," you repeated a little louder as you resisted him, not allowing yourself to be taken away from everyone else's eye sight.
"Excuse me?" a soft voice came from behind you, and you knew who it was immediately as Luke halted to face him. "Is everything alright over here?" he asked looking down at you as he spoke, and you went to answer until you were interrupted.
"We're fine," Luke grunted at him before trying to pull you away again.
"I wasn't asking you," the man started again, "I was asking her," he continued and you felt a shiver go down your spine, even his voice was beautiful. "Are you alright?" he asked again, returning his attention to you.
"He won't leave me alone," you told him and felt the grip on your wrist leave as he made eye contact with Luke, giving him a glare. Luke quickly scurried away, leaving you rubbing at the pain in your wrists. "Thank you," you mumbled and he gave you a shining smile.
"I'm Jaime," he told you as he held his hand out for yours, pressing a kiss to the back of it when you complied.
"Y/N," you replied softly, smiling over at him. "It's an honour to meet you, Ser," you told him and he lifted a questioning eyebrow causing you to chuckle. "You're a Lannister, everyone knows who you are," you continued, causing him to laugh.
"Of course," he uttered, smiling down at you. "I guess I should be used to beautiful women knowing me by now," he added, making a blush rise high in your cheeks, tinging them a bright red. "You can come and stand with me if you want him to leave you alone. Gods know you'd be much better company than those two," he told you gesturing over his shoulder at the two knights who were with him.
"I should really find my sister, but thank you for getting rid of him, he's been bugging me for months," you told him and he looked angry as he looked up in the direction Luke had gone in.
"Maybe I should have a word with him about treating women with respect," he told you before hesitating. "It was lovely meeting you, I hope you have fun with your sister," he started again, and you smiled before taking off onto the dance floor only to be met by your sister's squeal.
"What was he like?" she gushed as she grabbed onto you pulling you into a dance with her and pulling you away from her friends. "He's so handsome and tall, and just perfect," she told you as she danced away giggling at your red face.
"He's such a gentleman. Gods I wish I was some highborn Lady," you told her and she let out a little laugh as you over-dramatically fanned your face as if you were swooning.
It was then that you heard a yell come from the houses down the road, the music fell quiet and the people stopped dancing, all turning to face the direction the pained cries were coming from. You were standing on your tiptoes trying to see over the rest of the small crowd but you could see practically nothing as you stretched out your neck as far as it would go. "This way," your sister muttered as she dragged you to a low wall, climbing up to look over the heads of everyone else only to see Luke lying on the dirt road, his nose bleeding with Jaime crouching beside him, talking too quietly for anyone else to hear.
He quickly got to his feet, pushing his hair out of his face and turning towards the crowd with a smile and a low bow, until he met your eyes giving you a quick wink, causing your cheeks to go red as you grinned back at him.
The crowd soon dispersed, the happy go lucky mood of the evening seeming to disappear at the sight of blood staining the dry dirt that made up the roads. You had decided to stay out a little longer than everyone else and your sister had insisted on staying with you, only leaving when she saw Jaime walking towards the two of you with a smile gracing his lips. As she scurried away you chuckled seeing her looking over her shoulder at you as she went through the door. "She's going to watch this whole conversation," you told him as he settled himself on the wall beside you, "There's a hole in the wall in our bedroom and you can see the street through it," you added and he laughed with you.
"What does she plan on seeing from up there?" he asked you with a smirk, causing you to turn red as you thought of what your sister may have wanted to happen between you and Jaime.
When you finally spoke you decided to tell him the truth. "She wants you to confess your undying love for me, and then ask me to marry you," you told him and he remained silent. "She enjoyed watching you defend my honour, she has always been very unrealistic with her notions," you added, causing him to frown.
"Why is that unrealistic? I did defend your honour, he wasn't worthy of a woman so beautiful," he told you and you chuckled at him.
"His father has more money than mine," you started softly. "My parents actually want me to marry the fool," you told him and he snorted at your words, making you shoot him a glare, this was something you felt very seriously about and he was laughing at you. "You know I don't appreciate you finding amusement in my troubles," you mumbled as you played with your fingers not making eye contact with him.
"That not what I meant, all I was going to say was that if you were with me, money wouldn't be an issue," he spoke softly as he lifted your chin up to look into your eyes.
"What do you mean if I were with you?" you questioned him and he released your chin quickly shifting his body, not knowing what to do with himself. "It's not like that could ever happen, your father would be disgusted with the idea of you being with a common woman," you finished and he shrugged at you.
"He would be happy that I was marrying anyone, he's been begging me to leave the King's Guard and take a wife for years," he told you and you watched his features soften. "At least let me talk with him about it," he added causing you to smile before pressing your lips to his.
"Come back soon, Ser Jaime. I will be waiting for you," you murmured as you pulled away from him and walked to your house, leaning against the door frame and waving as he climbed onto his horse to head back to King's Landing.
