Time

Chapter One

"Bro? Come in Dirk? Aradia?" Dave sighs into his wristwatch, also a capsule he used to travel through time, and communicate with his fellow travelers. He looked around, not really cold in the crisp December morning air, due to his 2016 clothing choice..kind of.
He spotted a few kids that seemed to be his age, the girls saying goodbye to their brothers and friends, before heading to a separate all girls school. Dave snuck over to the boys line and stood in line quietly. He had no idea what the day, year, or even where he was.
"Woah, your clothes are so cool!" Said a short, buck toothed boy,"you're rich, aren't you? Why are you at this school then?" He adjusted his glasses and looked up at Dave.
Dave hesitated,"My brother was rich and when he died, my other brother gave me his clothes."
The boy nodded and looked at this strange boys goggles and watch,"You seem cool! Are you new here? I don't think I've seen you before,"
Dave nodded,"yeah I'm new to the area. After my brother died my other brother had us move here. Who are you?"
"I'm John Egbert! Who're you?" He asked with such innocence in his voice that Dave wanted to just scream that he was keeping this buck toothed boy.
"Dav-" he hesitated,"David Strider." Oh how he wished he could say his name was Dave but he knew in certain eras Dave was a strange name. It was David or no name at all sometimes.
"You're name is strange. I like it!" John giggled,"Oh! My friend Kaden is over there. Wanna go talk to him with me? He's kinda mean but he is actually really senti-..senti..sentimetal."
Dave smiled at how the big was having issues saying big words although he was about thirteen. The 20's sure were different from the 2000's.
They walked over to the short, pale-grey skinned boy with black hair.
"Hi John." Kaden looked up at Dave skeptically.
  "Hey Kaden! This is David. He's new so be nice."
Kaden glared at Dave but said anyways,"Hi David. I'm Kaden. Be nice to John, or I'll break you." And with that, he turned and started talking to a much taller male with lots of hair and dark skin.
'I thought this was a segregated time?' Dave thought but shrugged it off.
"Oh oh! David, that's Gregory, Kadens friend. He kinda scares me, I think he has anger issues. But it's okay. Cmon you can sit by me in class." John said eagerly and pulled Dave into the classroom and sat beside him in a middle row.

Dave woke in the morning beside John. He didn't remember much of last night.
'Where am I?' He thought. He poked John until John sat up happily,"Hi David!"
"Hi John, where am I?"
"My house. You said that you didn't remember where your house was so I let you stay over. My dad didn't mind," John answered happily.
Dave nodded, knowing he needed to get home. His 2016 home. But he didn't want to leave John. He wanted John to come with him.
John got up and pulled his shirt off, putting on a blue button-up and some khaki shorts.
"David today my dad is getting married, here put this red shirt on. Red suits you." John said eagerly and handed Dave a red button-up and some khaki shorts.
"Married?" Dave took his shirt off reluctantly and quickly put on the button-up so his scars didn't show.
  John nodded hesitantly,"I don't like the woman though. I think he said he name is Nancy. But before we go to the wedding we have to take Nancy out on a date with my dad, and then at the ceremony she'll put on a new dress and get married to dad. It's weird."
Dave nodded, knowing the feeling, his brother Dirk was going to do the same with a woman named Roxy but then started to develop a crush for his best friend Jake.
John continued,"My dad says I have to marry a pretty girl one day, always making hints about my friend Jade, but I don't wanna. I don't like girls. I mean, I like them but I think guys are cuter. My dad says it's wrong for a guy to marry another guy though. He said 'Adam and eve not Adam and Steve'"
Dave smiled to himself and put on the red bow tie John had handed him,'so johns gay too..'
"Yeah, I understand. Except my brother likes guys too. I like guys as well but my oldest brother is marrying a woman. He thinks like your dad but says its okay for bro and me to be different."
John looked amazed,"that's so cool! I wanna meet your family one day."

Dave stood alone behind the wall of the wedding reception. He was going to go in, in a few minutes and sit by John but he had to try to call his family again.
"Bro? Dirk? Roxy? Anyone getting the transmission?"
No answer. He sighed and hid his watch, heading inside.
