I really do think I am going to miss this place. I mean I've lived here my whole life, the only time I've left was for our family trip to Canada, and even that was only 4 weeks. to be honest though, I'm still glad we are moving. of course I am bummed that I will have to move away from my best friend Ruby, but I feel like this is my chance to start over, my chance for the whole school to know me as 'that cute new girl' not as 'that lame weirdo girl who's super shy.' though my thoughts are suddenly interrupted by the loud slamming of the car door.
"come on jess, we gotta get going, say goodbye to your room!!" mum yells from down the hall. I sigh and look around at the empty room in front of me. it doesn't even look like my room anymore , just a plain white room. I turn and skip down the hallway out to the garage where my mum and dad are waiting in the car. I open the back door and jump in, just as dad starts up car. "alright, so it should take us about 8 hours to get there, so buckle up and lets hit the road before it gets any later." dad says and I pull out my phone to text ruby. even though its going to be a long car ride, I know I will be fine because ruby has never failed to entertain me, no matter what I get my self into. I sigh once more as I watch the last glimpse of my town pass by, and suddenly I know, that us moving will be the best thing that's happened to me yet.
