There was silence in the dressing room. I raised my eyebrows and chuckled as I got up from the sofa and headed out slowly. Those boys never failed to surprise me! You're probably wondering what in the world happened, right? Well you see, the moment those five figured out the answer to my question, they gasped, whooped, gave each other high fives and ran out of the dressing room even before I could say 'Quidditch'! In the hallway, I saw the boys' silhouttes in the entrance of the Center. I took my time to walk out, which I knew I would be questioned for. I had spotted Thomas's car when I had arrived there and I knew that they were all in his car. By the time I reached it, I saw Thomas in the driving seat, Braiden in the passenger seat and Connor, Riley and Toby in the back. Thank goodness his car was a Range Rover!
"You sure took your time!" Riley remarked as I climbed into the car. I smirked. Told ya!
"No shit, Sherlock!" Thomas said from the front. I grinned, which he caught from the rear view mirror.
"So, where to, Ms. Simpson?" he asked, making me laugh.
"Umm... Just get to the West 43rd street. I'll direct you from there," I replied and after nodding, Thomas set off. Even after living in New York for a year, I hadn't quite gotten a hold of the whole directions business! Anyways, after a while and A LOT of turning, we stopped in front of my home, a two storey cream and white coloured house. I climbed out and turned to the boys and smiled.
"Well, if you want to come inside..." I started, going deliberately slow and the boys cut me off by cheering loudly. I grinned as they filed out of the car and joined me as I unlocked the front door. Both my parents worked and they didn't have any other child but me so the house was empty, except for our permanent maid slash cook. I headed to the living room and turned on the lights. The boys walked around, staring at different things.
"Well, make yourselves at home," I said while taking off my jacket and placing it on one of the couches. They followed my instruction by jumping onto the couches, each one lying on a seperate couch. I smiled.
"Do you guys want something to drink?" I asked and got nods and 'yes's. I started for the kitchen when I heard Braiden's voice.
"Hey, I'll help you," he said and I smiled briefly before turning to him as he approached me.
"Sure, man," I replied and he smiled. There was a small corridor between the kitchen and the living room. We walked out of the living room, where Thomas had grabbed the TV remote and they were fighting over which channel to put on. Typical them! I realised that Braiden slowed down upon reaching the corridor. I, too, slowed down my walking speed and turned to him.
"Something on your mind?" I asked.
"No, not really. Just felt like taking my time. That's all," he replied, making me smile.
"Your voice has gone a bit deeper than last year, hasn't it?" Braiden chuckled.
"Yeah, it has. Its not much different, though,"
"Yeah..." We walked for a moment in silence before Braiden spoke up.
"How are you, Haley?" I glanced at him ans smiled.
"I'm good... Great, actually. What about you, Braiden?"
"I'm better now than I was in the last couple of days," I frowned.
"Why is that?"
"Well, its been pretty busy with the tour and all and considering that this was our last show, we can now take a break. Also, I had absolutely NO idea that we'd run into you here," he and I both laughed and I pushed him lightly on the arm. Clutching it, and obviously surprised, he looked at me.
"What was that for?" I laughed.
"Nothing. Just felt like doing it," he gave me a look and I braced myself for a push or a punch but he swung his arm over my shoulders and pulled me close. I chuckled and put my arm around his waist, briefly resting my head on his shoulder.
"I missed you, Haley. Like, A LOT,"
"I missed you, too. Like A LOT," he laughed. We reached the kitchen and headed to the fridge. He took his arm off my shoulder but planted a kiss on my head before doing so. I smiled as I took out a bottle of Coke while he took out a tray and put glasses on it. Rose, our 35-year-old maid, came from her room.
"Its okay, Rose. You can go back to your reading," I said.
"Are you sure, Ms. Haley?" she asked in her thick French accent. I nodded and smiled, which she returned.
"Do call me if you need me to make anything for you or your friend," she said, looking at Braiden, who politely smiled at her.
"Please, call me Braiden," he said. She smiled and nodded, heading back to her room. I smiled and looked at Braiden.
"What?" he asked. My smile widened as I shook my head. He smiled back and busied himself with the Coke. I took out a bowl and a pack of Cheetos, pouring them into the bowl. After placing it on the tray, I turned to Braiden, who had finished pouring the Coke into the glasses.
"Should we head back now?" I asked.
"Hmmm..." he said, pretending to scratch is chin and came over to me, enveloping me in a hug.
"I guess not," I said, hugging him, causing us to start laughing.
"Five more minutes," he said. He leaned against the counter while holding me and let out a sigh. I looked up at him.
"Dude, did you have to be so tall? Not that I mind but just asking," I said and he shrugged. I smiled and kissed him on the cheek before letting go. He blushed and smiled shyly before picking up one of the trays. We then headed to the living room with smiles on our faces.
