I could have easily stared at the room for hours but was brought back to reality with a knock on my door.
"Hey Haley, lunch's ready," I heard Toby's voice say.
"Okay, I'll be down in a minute," I replied. And a minute is what I took. I quickly freshened up, again not believing that such a big bathroom belonged to me and me alone, and headed downstairs to the dining room, a big white walled room with big windows letting in the June sunlight and a brown dining table placed in the centre. At the head of the table sat Mrs. McDonough, with Mr. McDonough sitting on her left, along with Connor and Riley at the other end of the table. Toby sat on his mother's right side and I sat on the empty seat next to him. I couldn't help but wonder how the boys actually agreed to let me sit next to Toby. I quietly laughed. The McDonoughs had a cook, Alberto, and I have to say that he cooked some amazing food! We had spaghetti and meatballs and throughout the meal, Connor, Riley and Toby kept glancing at me but by the end, it got a bit annoying as all three of them were literally staring at me.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer," I said loudly, making all three of them jump. I grinned and looked at Mrs. McDonough, who grinned back. I looked at the three blushing boys and laughed. I finished my lunch, excused myself and went to take a little nap and let me tell you, I had never slept better! When I woke up around 5, the boys gave me a tour of the house. It was a fun tour, with the boys literally dragging me all over the house and chatting like little excited kids and when they came to their favourite rooms? Oh I thought nothing would stop them from talking! Their house was bigger than I thought. They had an arcade, recording studio, library and the best part? A ginormous outdoor pool! By the time we finished with the tour, dinner was ready.
We sat at the table, in the same seats and Alberto served us dinner, which was chicken and rice. And boy! It tasted great! After getting embarrassed during lunch, the boys kept their eyes to themselves. I noticed that and internally laughed out loud.
"So, where'd you live before coming here, Haley?" Connor asked.
"Uh, Singapore," I replied, keeping my attention to my food. The boys stopped eating and looked at me.
"Singapore?" they asked in unison. I nodded and they're confusion increased. I looked at Mr and Mrs. McDonough.
"Didn't they know already or you guys didn't bother telling them," I asked them. They just shrugged and I took that as a no. That's when I filled the boys in on my story. By the end, it looked as if their eyes would pop out of their sockets any second. Their plates were left more than half full and they got scolded by Alberto and quickly finished their dinner. I thanked Alberto for the meal, excused myself from the table and stood up. Then I suddenly remembered something. Resting my arms on the top of the chair I was sitting on, I looked at Toby.
"Hey Toby?" he turned in his seat and looked at me.
"Yeah, Haley?"
"You know that offer I made you?"
"Mhmm"
"It still stands," he looked up at me and smiled. Suddenly Riley and Connor's heads shot up.
"What offer?" they asked in unison. I didn't answer their question and just smiled back at Toby.
